this guy deserves some love...

Everybody loves a long-shot story, especially when it involves a local kid. Adam Thielen turned a tryout with the Vikings into a spot on the practice squad, worked his way onto the active roster last season and became one of the team’s best players on special teams. The Detroit Lakes, Minn., native and former Minnesota State Mankato standout finished second on the Vikings in special-teams tackles this season. But he showed again Sunday that he is capable of taking on a regular role on offense. While he only got seven offensive snaps in this game because the Vikings couldn’t stay on the field, Thielen tied running back Adrian Peterson for the team lead with 67 rushing yards. He wove his way downfield for 41 yards on that fake punt. He added 26 on a third-quarter end-around, patiently waiting for his blocks to set up then slipping a tackle to tack on an extra dozen yards or so. The Vikings would not have won without Thielen’s big plays on offense Sunday.

What's the status on his shoulder injury? Thielen has had an excellent year, and contributed to the teams success.

Receiver Adam Theilen fully participated with shoulder and back injuries.

It would take quite a bit to keep this guy off the field. He's Chris Walsh with offensive upside.

Nothing comes easy for Theilen.
He doesn't coddled himself.

One of the most memorable plays in the Vikings NFC North-clinching win at Green Bay last week had been called earlier this season but remained unseen.
Before Adam Thielen could race 41 yards on a fake punt to convert a fourth-and-3, the Vikings needed to reduce a third-and-11. When Teddy Bridgewater completed an 8-yard pass to Jerick McKinnon, it appeared innocuous enough to the Packers, but courage and conviction of Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer led to the early aggressive call.

Priefer: “We didn’t know it was coming. It was third-and-long, but all of a sudden, it’s fourth-and-short and the head coach says run it. I told our guys, and they went out and executed well. It’s a fake we’ve had in all year, and we’ve been practicing and preparing for it. We’ve actually had it called in two other games, but we end up getting the first down, and the offense kept the ball so we couldn’t run it. It was a great opportunity to run it. It was a huge play in that game, gave us momentum, and we got some points out of it.”

Zimmer: “We didn’t come [to Green Bay] to finish second. Let loose, take our swings, and if we get knocked out, we get knocked out.”

Year-old thread bump

Adam Thielen is the first @Vikings player with 200+ receiving yds & 2 TDs in a game since Sammy White in 1976. #SKOL

Yep, looks like a keeper. He, Diggs and Treadwell for certain moving forward along with, for now, Jarius Wright. Thielen's a FA so they need to get to work before he hits the market.

He's a restricted free agent so he likely won't be going anywhere. The Vikings would be smart to lock him up to a long term deal this offseason. Thielen has it all, speed, size, reliable hands, just don't let him field punts.

Thielen and Diggs make a nice starting duo. Treadwell may catch on but for now, hard to see him emerging as a starter over Diggs and Thielen.

Thielen is an awesome story, no one saw it coming, especially the Vikes who spent a first rd pick on a player who was supposed to be what Thielen has become.

Gotta find the bright spots, and this kid is just such a great story!

Nice to see those go up and get em catches from him today, wasn't sure if could be a guy who could do that, but today proves to me there's no reason to doubt how high this kid can climb.

I'm glad Thielen stepped up this season, when our bust of a rookie Treadwell sat on the bench the entire year. Thielen has shown what hard work can do for you. It's too bad our bust of a rookie can't learn hard work instead of expecting stuff given to him.

It'll be interesting to see the tender that is placed on him and how his situation gets handled this offseason. Hopefully he takes a home town discount Pray
