Leigh Halfpenny: Wales full-back ruled out of Rugby World Cup

Wales full-back Leigh Halfpenny is out of the Rugby World Cup.

Those injuries for Wales are brutal. Add to that being in the pool of death I don't think they make it out of pool play

Yeah, it sucks for them... Hopefully the two guys they brought in can do the job?
I'm familiar with Mike Phillips, very physical player probably close to the biggest (If not the biggest*) Scrumhalf in Rugby 6'3" 101kg. Eli Walker is somewhat of an enigma to me; I'm not privy to the Northern Hemisphere players like I am with the Southern.

They do have one thing working to their advantage though, if those call-up players fill the void... The Pool is a tough one, but they are playing at home (Millennium Stadium*) for two of their Pool matches & even though the other two games are at Twickenham the conditions will be familiar to them.

They looked the form team of the Northern Hemisphere last RWC in NZ, but the Warburton red card in the Semi was a killer for that team. So maybe this time around they can go one better, I'd love to witness an upset & have Wales send either Aus or Eng packing early. They still have a very strong squad after all; the biggest loss will be the pinpoint goal kicking of Halfpenny. (Aus has also been their Achilles heel*)

(Pool A will be must watch TV*)

Things are about to get hectic sport-wise! Cool

Thanks for posting all this stuff.

The All Blacks left Thursday New Zealand time for England.

There last few practices before they left were said to be as physical and intense as any they have ever had.

No worries... Cool I noticed the RWC tickets thread & have lurked on this site for about a year & a half, so I know there is some Rugby interest on FF... Combine that with the Hayne hype... (Even though he played the other Rugby, "Shhhhh" Wink) I though I'd do the honours & get a WC thread going.

Great to hear the ABs have their game faces on.
I saw that the team flew out without Ma’a Nonu, who had to stay behind an extra day to overcome illness. Hopefully all is well as he is in very fine form.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/all-blacks/71946224/all-black-maa-nonu-delays-travel-to-rugby-world-cup-due-to-illness

All of the teams will be arriving in England this week... Cool (Which means we are close to Kickoff*)

I must say I'm amped for this WC; I tend to prefer tournaments in hostile territory as it sets the stage for a great WC... Northern giants have the advantage in terms of familiarity of stadia & conditions, which may result in a surprise package going on a title run… (Home ground adv for ENG & possibly a chance for a 2nd title… Or maybe a team who has never won before Ire/Wal/Fra *) If one of the Southern giants (Who all currently have 2 titles a piece*) is to win a third, they'll have to do it the hard way on enemy soil... Which is great!!!
