Basically, next year needs to be a tank season, but it won't.

Dirk is still good enough (along with Barnes) to keep this team within striking distance of the 8th seed all year. We really need a top 5 pick next year but realistically we'll probably be picking around 9 or 10 again.

Not including Dirk since he's probably in his last year or two, the only guys on this roster who I think are a part of a helathy contending future are:

Harrison Barnes
Nerlens Noel
*Seth Curry

That's it. And I put an asterisk next to Curry's name because if he plays like he did last year, then he's going to be getting between 15 and 20 mil a season.

Very solid player, but along with Noel getting the near max most likely and Barnes already having that, do we want most of our money tied into Barnes, Noel and Curry? Absolutely not. Barnes is a solid #2 I believe but not a #1, and there's nothing wrong with that. Noel has very, very nice defensive anchor potential, but at this point he's still closer to a project than a star, though I am very confident he will be a 14/9 type guy with elite rim protection if he can get his weight up. And then Curry is best suited as a super 6th man.

My honest opinion is that it's going to be a very rough next 5 years unless we hit a home run with our lotto pick this year and happen to end up with another star pick next year.

But it has to start somewhere, and we really need to get rid of Powell and Wes's big contracts.

Barea, Harris, Mejri, Finney-Smith, Ferrell, Brussino, Hammons - none of these guys aside from maybe Ferrell as a back up PG have any value to this team's future.

So at this point we really only have two set in stone pieces to our future: A #2 option in Harrison Barnes and a POTENTIALLY elite defensive center.

If we don't move up in the lottery, I think you can pretty much pencil in Frank Ntilikina or whatever is name is if he's available

Ok yes, I knew I forgot a guy, and it's the guy who we'll probably end up taking. So Ntikilina is the most favorable choice. He just seems like a solid starter though, not much star potential. I think Dennis Smith has Kyle Lowry type potential which would be nice to add.

Assuming we don't move up or down in the draft, who would you like to see us pick. Please be realistic.

Dennis Smith. I feel he'll go a pick or two before us but him being at 9 as of now isn't unrealistic.

Guys who I don't think we have a shot at #9:

Markelle Fultz
Lonzo Ball
Josh Jackson
Malik Monk
Jayson Tatum
DeAaron Fox

So I believe we'll be picking from Dennis Smith, Lauri Markannen, and Jonathan Isaac.

Lauri would be really cool.

Four days away from the lottery. There is a 1.7% chance that we could land a franchise altering player like Fultz. LET'S GO!!!!

Do you all think Dwight Powell can become a 33.3% shooter from three point range?

I hope he improves his FT% too.

No. Powell is trash. Sucks to say since I had hopes for him after his first few months here.

He's way to skinny, weak to play center, and he has little outside game to thrive as a power forward. He's terrible around the basket too.

The fact that we gave him $40 million still baffles my [inappropriate/removed] mind.

Today is the day. Will we move into position to select Fultz/Ball/Jackson/Fox or will we stay put (or drop a pick)?

Send good vibes.
