Reach here but doesn't Lombardi like a FB in his system?

So character worth two round bump?

People mad about trade up for DT but Detroit slightly overpaid projections all draft for character

The thing is, they are reaches for the fans, not necessarily the Lions. Every team has their own BB, they never go off Kipers.

That's why I said projections

I'm not upset with any picks. This my least favorite

Tired of overplay on character thing.

The number one player had character issues but still number one because talent

Drafting players with character, injury, and work-ethic concerns has been Mayhew's biggest downfall. I'm glad he doesn't take these type of risks anymore.

You have to take them

Good teams do all time

Actually most of the best drafting teams in the league avoid players with glaring character, injury, and work-ethic concerns.

Good teams draft players who managed to satisfy management about their character deficiencies. No one takes a player expecting them to screw up.

You don't have to draft players the management isn't comfortable with and you don't have to draft guys with records, drug charges or those that can't be bothered to show up for an interview.

The team has way better uses for its resources than to supply bodyguards and baby sitters to its players.

Seattle says hello

Frank Clark perfect example

That's fine if you all are cool with overpaying character I was just curious

Carry on

Hence why I said "most."

I forgot how pointless debating with you is.

To be fair, you (along with myself and plenty of others) said Seattle reached on Clark.

As far as character issues go, it's basically a sliding scale taking into consideration:

1) talent
2) what the issue(s) are
3) whether or not they are being dealt with/improved
4) where in the draft it is

If those points mesh, I am fine with taking (certain) character risks, if they don't I'm fine with passing. I realize not everyone agrees with that or agrees on where the mesh point is. Tougher for fans when we don't always know all the details too, like the teams (typically) do.

He fits what the Lions use as a FB and helps the run game we are obviously trying to correct this offseason. I don't mind the pick, at all, just not my favorite.

Same. Seems like the right fit for our offense. Just feel like with the rarity that teams use FB that he could have been drafted a round or two later.

Don't like this pick. There was better value on the board in my opinion.

I liked Bennett, Olomu, and McBride at that spot. Now that we have Diggs, passing over Olomu is fine, but I thought Bennett would have been a good pick. Maybe I missed it, but is there some sort of issue with him? If there isn't, I don't see why you pass over a guy that could contribute rotationally as a pass rusher for a fullback.

Not sure what's up with McBride either
