| What the hell is the point of signing David Patten? We already have enough god damn small receivers! And I bet we didn't get him for chump change either. Idiotic. |

| This is so dumb, now were not gonna get Mike or Bray, or at least have no incentive to trade up so bad. Joe gibbs just wants "character guys". Plus hes old, 31, and short, 5'10. We need a big target. But you never know what he might do. |

| why is this a bad move, he's a solid guy coming from a winning environment and i doubt they gave him that much money. plus they still need another receiver so i would look for them to still go after williams or edwards. |

I agree. Patten is, to me anyway, a more reliable Gardner with a little more playmaking ability. He's a good bit older that Rod, but he hasn't been catching 80 balls a season either. He should still have plenty of steam. |

| We all know he played his best ball in NE b/c Brady was throwing to him. Do we ever plan on developing Jacobs? I have been a fan long enough that instead of throwing a fit about signing a 31 yr old reciever, I'm content to sit back and see how this pans out. I thought we might take a shot at Plax with Rod and LC not wanting to be here. |

That's a very good question Riggo. What a waste it would be if the guy never even gets a chance.
So do we go with LC, Patten and Jacobs this year? Or do we draft a WR with our 9th, and leave Jacobs or Patten as our 4th?
One more question...can the LC/Moss trade still be possible with the Patten pickup? |

Does anyone know the details of the contract? I think David Patton could be an excellent pickup if the price was right, which I think it will be! He's a "good value"
By all means I don't think this is the end of the WR signings... we may still trade Coles, but we have to get someone good for him (ie S Moss) I still feel we draft Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards! You can't put a rookie wide out on the field and expect him to win and carry the team his first year, make an impact yes! What better guy to have along side him than David Patton, hard working, reliable, 3 time Super Bowl Champ!!
Lavernious Coles
(or Santana Moss)
Mike Williams/Braylon Edwards
David Patton
Taylor Jacobs
Now that would be a solid receiving corp!! |

Terms of the contract weren't even disclosed... this was not a big time deal. It was a SOLID pick-up for the Skins, and once we get rid of Gardner he will probably be a cheaper option.
Why do we need a tall reciever again? So they can catch the long bomb, jump balls?
Do you know anything about Joe Gibbs offence? |

| We need a big receiver to play the Art Monk role, the powerful guy with strong hands to go over the middle and make the tough catch. We can use Coles, Patten, Jacobs, etc. to play the Ricky Sanders, Gary Clark style of WR, with the deep routes and such. But a guy like Mike Williams is just cut straight out of the Art Monk mold, its really somewhat uncanny, except hes actually a good deal more physically gifted than Art was. |
