I'm not going to bother with explaining why someone's in the playoffs anymore, since we now know explicitly. If you care, you can do the calculations.

In other news, there are no complicated tiebreakers now. It's all own playoff finish (if your team made it), own winning percentage, and opponent winning percentage. Hooray for simplicity!

32  Carolina        1.000    0.442  NFC S Champ         NFC #1

NOTES

Code:
(A) San Diego chooses before Baltimore due to the Ravens head-to-head win over the Chargers.

(B) There is a three-way tie for the AFC wild card spot between Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and the NY Jets. Since no team has swept the other two and no team has been swept, the next tiebreaker is conference record. Kansas City has the tiebreaker at 8-2 vs. the Steelers & Jets 6-4 record. It then reverts to the two-way tiebreaker between the Steelers and Jets. They did not play this season, they have the same conference record, and so it goes to common games (meets the minimum of 4: Cleveland (both beat), Indianapolis (both beat), New England (both lost), and Oakland (Pittsburgh won, Jets lost)). By a 3-1 vs. 2-2 record, the Steelers are the second AFC wild card.

(C) Seattle is the #1 wild card over Minnesota due to the Seahawks head-to-head win over the Vikings.

NOTES

Code:
(A) St. Louis picks before Chicago due to the Bears head-to-head win over the Rams.
(B) The NY Giants and Oakland Raiders do not play this year, so they will be separated by a coin toss.
(C) The NY Jets, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh are all tied at 8-5. Since they don't all play, the next tiebreaker is the conference record. The Chiefs lead there (7-2 vs. the Jets 6-4 and the Steelers 5-4). It then reverts to NY Jets and Pittsburgh, and the same situation applies.
(D) Washington is the division champion over the Giants and Eagles due to the head-to-head situation amongst the three teams (Washington 2-1, Philadelphia 1-1, NY Giants 1-2).
(E) Indianapolis is the division champion over the Colts due to their head-to-head win.
(F) Seattle is the first wildcard over Minnesota due to the Seahawks head-to-head win over the Vikings.
(G) Cincinnati has the #2 seed over Denver due to a better conference record for the Bengals (8-2 vs. Broncos 6-3).

32  Carolina        1.000    0.443  NFC S Champ (1 seed)

NOTES

Code:
(A) Tampa Bay is picking before the NY Giants due to Big Blue's victory over the Bucs.
(B) Indianapolis is the AFC South champion over Houston due to the Colts' head-to-head victory over the Texans.
(C) Green Bay is the NFC #1 wild card due to having the best record of non-divisional leading teams.
(D) Seattle is the NFC #2 wild card over Atlanta. Since they do not play each other, the next tiebreaker is conference record, which favors the Seahawks (5-4) over the Falcons (4-4).
(E) Kansas City, Houston, Pittsburgh, and the NY Jets are in a 4-way tie for the wild card. As all are in different divisions, we compare them via the 3+ team tiebreaker. No team has swept or was swept by one other, so the next tiebreaker is conference record. The Chiefs (5-2) have a better conference record than the Texans (4-3), NY Jets (5-4), and Steelers (3-4), and are the #1 wild card.
(F) There still remains a three-way tie between Houston, Pittsburgh, and the NY Jets. Again, no team has swept or been swept by any team, so again we go to conference record. Since the Texans have the best record (4-3 vs. Jets' 5-4 and Steelers 3-4), they get the #2 wild card.
(G) With the three way tie between Houston, Indianapolis, and Kansas City **for draft position**, you first need to break the tie between the Texans and Colts. Since the Colts have the head-to-head win, the Texans are eliminated from consideration. Since the Colts and Chiefs don't play each other, the next tiebreaker is conference record. The Chiefs win due to their better record (5-2) over the Colts (4-3). Then, the Colts pick ahead of the Texans because of the head-to-head.
(H) Cincinnati is the 2 seed over Denver because of the Bengals' better conference record (7-1) over the Broncos' (5-2).

32  New England     1.000    0.473  AFC E Champ [AFC #1 seed]

NOTES

Code:
(A) Tennessee is picking before San Diego because the Titans have a worse conference record (0-5) than the Chargers (1-4).
(B) Houston and Philadelphia, as they are in opposite conferences and do not play each other this year, would be settled by a coin flip.
(C) Indianapolis is the AFC South champion over Houston due to the Colts head-to-head win over the Texans.
(D) Buffalo is the wild card nominee over the NY Jets due to the Bills head-to-head win over Gang Green.
(E) Pittsburgh is the #1 wild card over Buffalo due to a better overall record (6-4 vs. 5-4).
(F) While they have the same overall record (and thus are the NFC's wild cards), Green Bay is the #1 wild card over Atlanta due to the Packers' better conference record versus that of the Falcons (4-2 vs. 4-3).
(G) Arizona is the NFC #2 seed over Minnesota due to the Cardinals' better conference record versus that of the Vikings (5-1 vs. 4-1).

COMMENTARY
Note: In week 5, the NFL lists the Panthers as the 5th seed in the NFC and the Falcons as the NFC South champion. As best as I can tell, they are listing them in this fashion simply because the Panthers had their bye already and have one less win than the Falcons. I personally think that's crap, and am ranking them based on their W/L percentage. If you disagree, you can swap the two teams.

For the record, the NFL also lists the Patriots as the 3rd seed amongst the undefeated AFC teams. If you choose to penalize the Panthers for not playing five games yet, you will need to also penalize the Patriots. The correct order for this IMO incorrect decision would be:

27. Carolina
28. New England
29. Atlanta
30. Green Bay
31. Cincinnati
32. Denver

*     Denver        1.000    0.476  AFC W Champ (K)
*     New England   1.000    0.476  AFC E Champ (K)

NOTES
Code:
(A) Carolina is NFC South division champ because of a better division record (2-0) than Atlanta (0-0).
(B) Dallas is the NFC East division champ because of the head-to-head win over the NY Giants and a better division record (2-0) than Washington (1-1).
(C) Atlanta is the #1 wildcard in the NFC due to the best record of non-champion NFC teams (4-0).
(D) St. Louis is the #2 wildcard in the NFC
   - They represent the NFC West in the conference tiebreaker due to the head-to-head win over Seattle.
   - The Giants represent the NFC East in the conference tiebreaker due to the head-to-head win over Washington.
   - The Giants, Vikings, and Rams have not played each other so the head-to-head sweep is not eligible.
   - The Rams have a better conference record (2-1) than the Vikings (1-1) or Giants (1-2).
(E) The #1 wildcard in the AFC goes to the NY Jets because the Jets have the best record of non-champion AFC teams (3-1).
(F) Buffalo is the #2 wildcard in the AFC
    - The Raiders represent the AFC West in the conference tiebreaker due to a better conference record (2-1) than the Chargers (1-1).
    - The Steelers have a worse conference record (0-2) than the Bills and Raiders (each 2-1). The Steelers drop out and it reverts to the two team tiebreaker.
    - The Bills and Raiders don't play, they have the same conference record, and they don't have 4 common games yet. This leads to the Strength of Victory tiebreaker where the Bills have
defeated the Colts (2-2) and Dolphins (1-3) whereas the Raiders have defeated the Ravens (1-3) and Browns (1-3).
(G) Positions are unknown since San Francisco and Baltimore are tied in record, opponent record, and are in opposite conferences. As such, this would be broken by a coin toss.
(H) New Orleans chooses first over Tampa Bay due to the head-to-head win the Bucs have over the Saints.
(I) Washington chooses first over NY Giants due to the head-to-head win the Giants have over the Redskins.
(J) Indianapolis chooses first over Buffalo due to the Bills having a better conference record (2-1) over the Colts (2-2).
(K) I have no idea how the NFL would break a three way tie across both conferences. Do they break the Denver/New England tie first and then go with a coin toss?

It occurs to me I probably need to bump this to show that it updates each week. Otherwise, eyes might scan over it.
