Per ESPN:
Quote:
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes the Jets should and will try and trade WR Stephen Hill.
We doubt Hill would fetch more than a late-round pick, but he has all the measurables at 6'4/215 with 4.36 wheels. Unfortunately, Hill's hands are made of stone, while his body has yet to hold up in the NFL. Ex-GM Mike Tannenbaum made Hill the 43rd overall pick in the 2012 draft. Hill has missed nine games in two seasons, and has just 45 career grabs for 594 yards and four scores to his name. He has just two catches for 29 yards this preseason. If the Jets can't unload Hill via trade, there's a very real chance he's part of their final cuts. Aug 25 - 10:36 PM

Jets tried trading WR Stepehen Hill this summer. No takers. Let's see if final cuts today and Saturday change that equation.

Would it be worth it to dangle a 7th rounder for him?

Pros:
Provides a big bodied, fast, down the field option the Browns are lacking if Gordon is out.
Could benefit from a change of scenery.
Low cost to bring him in / if they cut him.

Cons:
Unreliable hands
Injury concerns
Not sure he could mentally handle the fans' boos if he consistently messes up

No one's saying he would come in and turn around the offense, but he would provide another option to at least look at. I wouldn't pay anything more than a 7th, but the Browns are in a tight spot right now when it comes to down the field threats and desperate times call for desperate measures.

Thoughts?

Reason I would take a shot on Hill. Speed. Period. #Browns have thrown one pass over 20 yards in the preseason. #nodeepthreat

Apparently Dustin's a lurker.

For a 7th? Why not.

He has the upside and was a 2nd round pick not too long ago. He was used solely as a deep threat under the Jets, it's hard to say how much they developed him, so he's a work in progress for sure. He also has drop issues, but our WR unit is in bad shape and if it clicks here for him he'd be a steal

Can't catch. There's nothing I hate more in football then a receiver who has catching problems. We just got rid of greg little

I rather take him over the other WRs on the team that cant catch. He atleast brings a speedy deep threat

Didn't we already draft this guy? Oh yeah that's right Quincy Morgan. No thank you.

That is all

He's not good and he never will be, but I guess I'd still send a conditional 7th over for him lol.

So then why even give a 7th? lol
I rather keep what we have than bring someone like that and lose a pick.

It's a 7th, who cares lol

The odds on hitting on a stud in the 7th are about the same odds of Hill living up to his freakish measurements and translating into a force at the WR position

Not sure, I would rather we look to bring in reliable guys. No point in bringing in a deep threat for the sake of it. If we've only thrown one pass over 20 yards thats got to be as much scheme as anything else. We've just cut a guy (Anthony Armstrong) who was a deep threat, no point in bringing in another.

1.i rather keep the pick. Who are we to say throw away a 7th when it could turn into a decent ST player, a project with high upside, or a piece in a trade to move or down in the draft.

2. It sounds like he's going to be cut anyway.

3. I hate WR who can't catch .... What's the point ?

4. It's the jets ... I highly doubt they would even entertain the thought of doing business with us. Petty basically called out Rex on the ice bucket challenge lol
