Thought it'd be nice to have a thread devoted to our preseason cuts/additions. Who do you guys see us dropping Tuesday? Also as a very deep team, I don't expect us to add anyone to our 53 man roster after cuts, but who are you guys looking at maybe picking up for our PS? One guy I liked coming out was Joe Kruger who was cut by the Eagles. I think he'd be a good candidate to develop on our PS. He has great size and is still only 22.

I had him as a 4th rounder. I like him but i doubt we pick him up considering our plethora of DL player. That said I hope im wrong because i think he can be a good player.

Okoye has made a lot of progress since last year and I think we could place him on the PS again. I'd like to see us keep him and see if can improve as much with another year of work. He's got the physical skills to be be a good player if he can improve his technique and instincts.

49ers are cutting punter Colton Schmidt, according to a source. He led the preseason in net yards

@caplannfl: #49ers expected to waive QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, source said. Leaves them 3 QBs on roster.

49ers placed RB Marcus Lattimore on reserve/NFI, sidelining him for at least six regular-season games, per league source.

49ers also placed LB NaVorro Bowman on PUP, meaning he officially will miss at least the first six games this season.

I knew Lattimore was progressing more slowly than we all hoped. The question now is - will he ever be an NFL RB or was that a career ending injury he suffered.

No surprises in the rest.

Who was the player we thought would possibly be ir to return. And then we had a discussion about how bow was pup so it was different.

Completely blanking.
Thinking Martin might be that now but can't remember who the other was.

I believe that was Bowman. Someone suggested that he would be the IR-DFR . But he is on the PUP list, so there is no need for that. Dorsey will likely be the IR-DFR.

Also, Constanzo's injury settlement will make him available for us later in the year if we need a boost to our special teams. Nice.

Obviously a lot can change if anyone else gets hurt, if Alex Boone comes back, and depending on what they decide to do with Marcus Martin, but this is what I'm thinking we'll be looking at opening day.

Gore.....you have 55 players listed instead of 53.

Here's my final 53 prediction -

QB / 2 - Kaepernick, Johnson
RB / 5 - Gore, Hyde (R), James
FB / 6 - Miller
WR / 13 - Crabtree, Boldin, Johnson, Lloyd, Patton, Ellington (R), Osgood
TE / 16 - Davis, McDonald, Carrier
C / 18 - Kilgore, Martin (R)
OG / 21 - Iupati, Looney, Snyder
OT / 24 - Staley, Davis, Martin

DT / 26 - Williams, Dial
DE / 31 - Smith, McDonald, Carradine, Jerod-Eddie, Dobbs
OLB / 35 - Smith, Brooks, Lemonier, Lynch (R)
ILB / 40 - Willis, Borland (R), Wilhoite, Skuta, Moody
CB / 45 - Brock, Culliver, Cox, Morris, Johnson (R)
FS / 47 - Reid, Spillman
SS / 50 - Bethea, Dahl, Ward (R)

K / 51 - Dawson
P / 52 - Lee
LS / 53 - McDermott

SURPRISE / NOTABLE CUTS -

QB Blaine Gabbert (he sucks, plain and simple. take the cap hit and move on)
CB Chris Cook (Cox is better and I don't think the team will release Morris or Johnson. Ward is expected to play nickel. Dahl stays because unlike Ventrone, he can also play SS if needed)

Seven receivers are kept since we'll only carry three running backs. Osgood is mainly for special teams as is Patton and Ellington. Don't see Lloyd or Johnson playing special teams. Only eight offensive linemen because that's usually what Harbaugh keeps. If Boone returns, I would most likely release Looney as Snyder is a solid veteran who can play every position on the offensive line. Only two nose tackles because they play 1/3rd of the time. I have Aldon listed even though he'll most likely be suspended. When he gets suspended, I would add Cook back to the roster. Already explained Dahl.

Overall, not bad at all. Injuries and Aldon's suspension will test the defense. Offensively, im hoping Boone comes back for week one but I seriously doubt that he will. If the team isn't going to pay him and if he isn't going to show up until week ten, I would trade him for the best offer I can get and move on. Special teams should be great as always.

Math is hard...

I would drop Dobbs and James or Winston. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see James cut at this point though. With Ellington emerging James is quickly becoming expendable.

Okoye-Offers nothing at this point.

possible Mid-season cuts (from people returning)for: Boone, Smith, Bowman and Martin
