So I read that they had to stop practice as the field was not in proper condition. Is it me or are we always in the news now. Between injuries, hold outs, pending suspensions, and now this.

I really hope this is not a prelude to the season.

Thoughts?

Being in the news so much aside, it is definitely not good to see the turf fall apart so early. Players could get hurt and Johnson almost did yesterday. Hopefully by Sunday everything will be good and no one gets hurt due to the field.

I remember the announcers saying something about the field on Sunday. Something along the lines of, "This is a beautiful field. The grass is brand new. I wonder what these guys are slipping on?" I was watching the Denver feed from NFL's website.

LOL, I guess we know now. Not a good look to say the least for the new billion dollar stadium, but as long as it is fixed for the game on Sunday.

I'm hearing they're going to put some kind of solution on the field for this Sunday and then re-sod it completely next week before the next game.

One big fail for them on this issue. They put the sod down in April so it would have deep roots by now. You'd think somebody would have cut down into it to check to see if those roots were actually sinking down deep. Apparently not.

Maybe it was just too safe of an assumption that it would. Seriously, 4 months, with minimal stress on it. I personally would assume the sod would have deep and rich root systems and wouldn't really think of second guessing it. Does anyone know if there were issues reported during the soccer game? And was there heavy rain in the last couple of weeks? Honestly, I am a grass technician myself (watch the Champions Tour (golf) next week, the old guys are going to come to my course), and I would never suspect four month old sod to deteriorate so fast. Unless there's an irrigation leak somewhere under the grass.

Then it has to be a big choke by the groundskeeping crew.

My golf course has had a terrible winter, we had to re-seed a lot of grass, and considering the climate nothing really grows well before mid-june, and even here, we would have been able to grow stronger grass than that. Never been a big fan of bermuda grass.

Ok, so they say the soil was too soft... How could they not notice that earlier? If it's too soft for a bunch of 200-330lbs men, it also should be too soft for... I don't know... a freakin' mower. I'm sure they can afford a big one, and with the big comes the heavy, and it would leave tire tracks from always cutting in the same direction, in the same tracks. It should have been plainly obvious that the soil was too soft.

As Rudy? I'd be the San Francisco 49ers' resident Rudy?

As long as you produce like Aldon Smith, I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem Wink.
