Yeah, I'm still gonna go ahead and feel sorry for him. So much potential, and he could have had a great career in the NFL. But I just hope he makes a success of himself in whatever he chooses to do next.

Was it a hit that caused the original injury or just a degenerative thing?

I remember him going out last year but can't remember a hit doing it.

That sure as hell is a better attitude than I think I would have in that situation. Best of luck to the man.

I'd be depressed as hell. Really sucks that he doesn't get a fair shake.

I was depressed as hell after I had to shut down my HS career, he's walking away from Millions and his life long dream and doing it with a smile on his face. That's a special kind of guy right there.

This is a shame. With a serious neck problem at his position, he may be just as well to never play again. Hopefully it doesn't give him any problems going forward.

There's always coaching.

I agree, he could actually get paralyzed or killed if he gets hit a certain way

Yeah - he got 5.4 million guaranteed. Money should be the least of his worries.

He was informed of the risks that by playing football again he faced an increased likelihood of re-injuring his neck which could have potentially serious consequences.

If you ask me - he's luckier than Jahvid Best. It doesn't sound like it will affect him in his regular life. It will just prohibit him from playing contact sports. It's unfortunate he never got to live up to his potential but there's plenty of guys who would be happy with not only getting a chance to play in the NFL (albeit brief) but being paid over 5 million dollars to do so.

I really wanted him in stripes that year. This is terrible news. The guy was an unbelievable athlete.

He was a great athlete. I think he still could have developed into a good NFL running back. It's a shame. He seems like a good guy and is very passionate about football. Hopefully the Giants hook him up with an internship or something to get him into coaching eventually.

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to track and field.

Not that many people dream about being a fumble prone RB in the NFL.

Don't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling.
