Still a high ceiling. He'll get picked up by some WR desperate teams.

He was such an amazingly talented prospect. His work ethic must have been just awful.

Coming out it was "No work ethic, egotistical, doesn't get it."

Not surprised.

Talk about a bust. I was very high on Baldwin coming out of Pittsburgh. With all the potential and talent in the world, you would have to think he'd be successful in the NFL; his combination of size and athleticism made him a mismatch for any defender. I'll admit I brushed off the poor ethic label that had surrounded him throughout his college career; this is one of those cases where a player's career is wasted due to that reason.

When he was traded to the 49ers I thought that would be a turning point in his career, I was wrong again about Baldwin.

He didnt get a lot of looks or catches when we were bare at WR with Crabtree, Patton, etc out and it was basically just Boldin left. That was his chance to shine but now that we have Crabtree and Patton back, drafted Ellington, added Stevie Johnson and Brandon Lloyd there just isn't room for him. We are so stacked at WR we might need to keep 7 (including ST ace Osgood). If we keep 6 we will be cutting Lloyd who has been impressing everyone or cutting a ST ace in Osgood. And that's if we don't include Chuck Jacobs who impressed in pre season last year and then Devon Wylie who could make some teams in this league for ST/returner/WR.

Back to Baldwin/Jenkins, I thought we gave up on AJ Jenkins too early and we didn't go out of our way in the preseason to get him the ball. We should have tried harder but to get him involved but I'm assuming his lack of passion and work ethic is the reason we didn't. I think Baldwin can go to another team with less depth at WR and still make the team. As for missing on Jenkins Baalke had a bad draft in 2012 but his 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014 have or will make up for it. He's still one of the best drafters in the league. Washington will likely go on our PS for a year and then have a chance at making the roster.

Disappointing. Wanted to see this guy succeed mainly because I had high hopes for him and he was on my fantasy team.

IRL it semed like he had good potential but could never live up to it. I'm sure that he will be picked up somewhere but he will never live up to the hype.

I wouldn't mind the Lions taking a look. Behind Megatron and Tate we don't have much. Low risk/high reward type move. If he can't beat out Durham and Broyles then no loss to us.

I liked him coming out but had my doubts.

Sad, because the talent is there.

Seems the only chance this guy has at revitalizing his career is to surround himself with the right players and coaches. Chicago would be a great opportunity for him, Marshall would be the perfect mentor. It only helps they grew up 20 miles from each other in PA... I too, was a pretty big Baldwin fan coming out of Pitt, he still has time, but its quickly dwindling.

Physically he's everything you want in the modern NFL in terms of a #1 wideout. But mentally he's never been sharp, just never took the time to be a real pro and develop a work ethic. People will say the talent is there and he'll get a chance, but there are plenty of talented players in the NFL, if he doesn't get it, he doesn't get it. He'll get into another teams camp but I doubt he sticks.

He couldn't succeed in SF when Boldin was the only option at WR. Literally, we ran A LOT of 1 WR sets. It sucked... Anyway, I hope he can turn it around, he wasn't BAD, he just wasn't good. Never got on the field, never got looks... Maybe he could go somewhere like Carolina, New England, or Chicago and find decent success. But it just hasn't clicked for him
