I didnt want to make a new thread about this, but....

Who do you guys think should get the 5th receiver spot?

I just looked at two post week 3 predictions, and both had Justin Brown making it.

Why?

I mean, I was a fan of his and hoping he would show something, but he has shown nothing. Unless he has been injured that I am not aware of, he has been completely non-existent in the preseason.

As much crap as I gave him, Id probably give the 5th spot to Heyward-Bey. I mean, he may not be good, but Justin Brown might just be another Dallas Baker...a guy who shows up in practice but shows NOTHING in any game situation. At least DHB has shown SOMETHING...even if alot of it is not good.

Just wanted to get some more thoughts on this.

Would you guys bet on Justin Brown showing something going forward, or hold onto Heyward Bey for the time being.

I just dont think Justin Brown has done anything to earn a roster spot...and this is coming from one of the few guys on here who was happy we drafted him.

i think DHB is going to make it on special teams alone. Brown to the PS again.

I am not necessarily hoping Brown makes roster. I just hope DHB never makes the field. I don't want him getting open, which he can do. If he gets open and Ben throws to him we just wasted a down. I hope someone, anyone, takes his spot.

As opposed to Ben getting sacked because no one is open?

As a 5th WR, he wont see the field much. barring injury.

In fact, our 4th WR last year hardly touched the ball.

Even if DHB isnt that good, thats just blind hate. You want anyone to take his spot yet there are alot that cant catch any better OR get open. At least he can get open down the field and has situational value.

I am far from a DHB fan, but you cant really expect much more from a 5th WR that a special teamer and get that MIGHT get 5-10 targets for the season. Remember Quincy Morgan and Sean Morey? They were actually worse at the WR position than DHB.
