Link.
Quote:
“Marshawn Lynch just called me, we just talked,” Robinson said. “He said he will be holding out from training camp this year with the Seahawks.”

Lynch has two years remaining on a four-year deal worth up to $30 million and reportedly wants to get some more upfront money with the knowledge that he could be released after this season and not receive the money on the final year of his deal. He would be due for $5.5 million in 2014.

Under the current CBA, holding out seems counterproductive. He can be fined $30K a day and potentially lose a $6M signing bonus.

I would wait and see if he does do it tomorrow i really can't see our FO budging on his contract though unless he follows through with missing actual games he barely practices.

Players out-performing their contracts isn't a terrible problem to have.

I think he'll see a minor pay raise.

Lynch got a front-loaded deal after performing at a high level for only half a season that gave him 17 mil over the first 2 years (8.5 per year). Now he wants more money when the deal becomes more team friendly and brings his per year down to a "measly" 7.5m per year? Not that I don't understand his reasoning, but its not like I'm feeling sorry for him...he has been compensated fairly.

yep, and paraphrasing overthecap.com, Charles is still underpaid while Lynch is paid adequately to his value

I'm sure that's not the only thing but it has to be fresh in his mind. Fact is, Lynch is unlikely to get more money out of Seattle. They have multiple insurance policies at the RB position, the main one being super talented Christine Michael. Lynch should safe the money he's going to lose from holding out and play out the season at his reasonable salary.

The longer he holds out the longer Christine Michael has to prove he's the best back in Seattle.

Definitely not something the SB champs want to hear but they have some young guys in the backfield. Wonder what Seattle does with this

If they're smart they won't do anything.

Not sure he's got much leverage. He's got a fair contract in which he already got a good chunk of guaranteed money and Seattle has a pretty promising high round draft pick behind him. They could already cut him next year if they wanted with little cap ramifications so if the OP is accurate they'd be giving him money this year pretty much "just because"

And the attributes that make him so good are exactly what could hasten his decline. I think Lynch's deal has been fair to him and the team both so far.
