With Ford being cut, I'm beginning to think it more likely that Clyde Gates makes this team.

Seen reports that Hakim will be the primary kick returner, so maybe not. If I had to predict our receiving core, I'd say it's Decker, Kerley, Nelson, Hill (unfortunately), Hakim, and Saunders.

As much as I think/want Salas to make this team, i'm not so sure he'll beat out Hill. I don't think it's worth keeping a 5th receiver over our primary KR/PR.

No way we keep 7. In that scenario, who's return kicks? Now that Ford's gone, Hakim is going to make the team.

Im assuming Saunders comes back soon and he returns punts and Kicks

Punts yes, not kicks though. He hasn't been returning any kicks in practice. Rex basically named Hakim the starting KR today.

I can see a shocking cut happen at WR. Maybe Nelson, or Hill

I hope it's Hill; he's useless.

IMO Gates has been terrible for us the last two years. If we keep him i would believe it was only because Rex felt some type of loyalty to him.

I believe that there is no way Nelson gets cut, right now he is our starter alongside Decker and Kerley. And IMO, if Idzik and the coaches keep true to their mantra of competition, then Salas should make the team over Hill. It's as simple as that.

This is my top 4 right now for the WRs: Decker, Nelson, Kerley, Salas.

I'm assuming we keep 5 guys, if not 6. It will definitely be someone who can return punts and kicks, hence why I thought Gates might make it since he has experience doing both for us. It's a bit murky though, because Saunders has this mysterious illness and he has missed a lot of time because of it. Do we keep him on the active roster, or try to stash him on the PS? Hakim is unproven, but he is probably the fastest guy on the roster. Gonna be interesting to see what happens after Thursday's game.

EDIT:

Just saw where Rex did pretty much guarantee Hakim a roster spot. I'm thinking him and Saunders will both make the team and give us 6 WRs.

If Hill doesn't show up, he could very well be done

Hill (illness) didn't practice today, but expected to play Thurs night, per Ryan. Indication roster spot up in the air. #nyj

Hakim has looked great on special teams, so he secured a spot that way. Has been great in ST coverage, and can be used on kickoff return with his speed.
