Top 5 back paid like a top 10 back isn't bargain basement.

Russell Wilson is bargain basement.

Good job Chiefs keeping Charles happy; that offense is efficient with him and below average without. You have to keep your ace.

With the historical decline of backs after age 30, it's smart of the Chiefs to give him a two-year deal.

Excellent signing both ways. Extremely well deserved on Charles' end.

Bargain basement bro.

A running back getting paid within a few spots of their subjective rank isn't bargain basement.

Unless they're the clear cut, without a doubt, undisputed best in the league by a wide margin and being paid like a 16-32 ranked back, it's not bargain basement.

Even then, you can't just disregard this:

Quote:
Jamaal Charles made as much as any RB not named Adrian Peterson over the last 5 years.

He was outplaying his contract, that's for sure. He wasn't bargain basement...

Graham and Sherman playing for less than $2,000,000 combined last season? Those guys were bargain basement.

Three at 5.0 exactly? I find this possibly inaccurate? Not on your part.

I think it's funny there's a discussion over my opinion. Laughing

That's not bargain basement, that's you over valuing a player. There's a very big difference.

So do you think Charles should be paid more than Peterson, or do you think Peterson is underpaid as well?

Just curious as to whether you're valuing Charles more highly than I am, or the RB position as a whole.

I'm a big fan of this. Not even 24 hours passed since reports leaked of Charles wanting a raise and potentially holding out, and Chiefs squash the issues before it even gets rolling. Props to them. He clearly deserved more than the money he was set to earn.

I truly wish you guys were paying him 15m per. On a 8 year deal. Fully guaranteed.

That doesn't scream bargain basement.

Quote:
Players with a higher average per year than Jamaal

Adrian Peterson ($14.38 million)

LeSean McCoy ($9 million)

Arian Foster ($8.7 million)

Matt Forte ($7.6 million)

Marshawn Lynch ($7.5 million)

Jonathan Stewart ($7.3 million)

Ray Rice ($7 million)

Frank Gore ($6.4 million)

Jamaal Charles ($5.4 million ... 9th highest average per year)

He's been at least a top 5 back for 4 years now.

Bargain basement bro.
That is for current deals, not past monies made over the time you're claiming he was playing at bargain basement prices.

That's factoring in money yet to be made, including hyper-inflated base salaries that will be certainly restructured/lead to the player being cut and not making that.

There's no way the Seahawks will be paying Marshawn Lynch 9 million in 2015. Everyone knows this is his last year in Seattle, yet is counts against that "average".

Jonathan Stewart has made an average of 3.8 million over the past three years and his contract balloons to over 8 per year after this year with virtually no signing bonus. You think they're really going to keep him at that price?

Pretty much every one of these contracts were signed in 2012 and haven't been played out and many won't be.

Why are you guys arguing with me?

I think Charles deserves Peterson money, he's definitely in that tier for sure. I'm also glad he's not getting that much, because that would be horrible at 28.

He was getting paid 3-5 mill a year previously. I think that's bargain basement in my opinion yeesh compared to 15. Guys been the offense for years when a horrible QB like Cassel was reigning in all the dough. A Travesty, congrats JC, you're finally making close to what you are worth from this team finally.

Now get that KC Rushing Title next season, against the Broncos in week 2 would be ideal.
