He's done everything in his power to earn it, but I'm just not a fan of breaking the bank on older RBs. Yes, 27 (will turn 28 during the season) is old for a RB considering most RBs dip exponentially around 29 or 30. He probably has two really good years left. I would have let him play out the rest of his contract, which happened to be two more years, and then let him hit the market.

He was criminally underpaid though. I'm curious to see the details.

I remember back when Pioli signed him to that deal a couple years ago, and Iwas pissed as a raider fan because he signed for a complete bargain. Hopefully this time around, he gets paid like the elite player that he is.

The Chiefs still have to pay Justin Houston, Eric Berry and Alex Smith wants a new deal too. Their GM has his work cut out for him as they dont have much cap to work with.

That Dwayne Bowe contract is looking pretty bad right now. I always thought he was just a good receiver, not elite or ever been on the verge of becoming elite.

I don't think there's any chance Justin Houston or Alex Smith get paid.

I should clarify the Justin Houston thing. That's assuming they don't want to let go of Hali.

I think Charles' game will age surprisingly well for a speedy back. Sure, he'll start to lose some of the speed, but he's always had great vision and he's never been overworked. Plus he's arguably the best all-around back in the game and will be able to contribute in all areas of the offense for the duration of his career.

Thank god, was wondering what was taking so long with contracts. Charles was just under-the-radar, classic classy JC. He's been putting in work at bargain basement prices.

Also this move has to be directed at Houston, who didn't show up for OTA, but Charles was a good soldier like always and got paid

Hali will get the boot next year or restructure/re-sign/take a paycut, clearing some room.

Bowe can be cut after June 1st cuts next year to clear room. Although it's all murky, particularly with the new CBA.

As far as all that goes though, I'm glad I'm not Chiefs GM right now

That doesn't scream bargain basement.

Both will get paid, Hali is going to be the odd man out.

That doesn't scream bargain basement.

Quote:
Players with a higher average per year than Jamaal

Adrian Peterson ($14.38 million)

LeSean McCoy ($9 million)

Arian Foster ($8.7 million)

Matt Forte ($7.6 million)

Marshawn Lynch ($7.5 million)

Jonathan Stewart ($7.3 million)

Ray Rice ($7 million)

Frank Gore ($6.4 million)

Jamaal Charles ($5.4 million ... 9th highest average per year)

He's been at least a top 5 back for 4 years now.

Bargain basement bro.
