Almost $3,000,000 per game played.

Glad that wasn't on the Saints dime.

Hope he finds a way to keep playing, or enjoy his retirement.

The saints locker room probably wouldn't have ruined his body though. He's pretty torn up, I don't think he ever plays again. Which is a shame. He was a very good interior lineman, I wanted him when he hit FA.

That sucks but at least he was able to strike one last payday.

Man, I feel like the Bucs O-line went from being top tier to bottom tier in the span of a year.

I really feel bad for the guy, had a great potential career ruined by something that wasn't even a result of playing football. Just sad.

MRSA infection, I believe in his foot. It went away, but then came back and he had to have surgery to remove it.

For how bad it sounds and how long he dealt with it, it likely left a bad scar, he likely lost some tissue where it was infected, and for sure he would've lost a lot of muscle. You can look up MRSA scars, but they are freaking nasty. I had a minor staph infection on my elbow and it was painful and left a pretty bad scar. MRSA is pretty much a staph infection on steroids, and I'd imagine having it on your foot is awful.

Oh i'm very familiar with a staph infection. It's like liquid and hurts your body bad. i had it in my right leg and I couldn't stand up, it was so painful to put pressure on it. So I had to have surgery and that was....9 years ago about. Still got a big surgery scar on my leg. Dang I feel bad for the dude =[

The mrsa is not the reason he was retiring. It was the Lisfranc. The mrsa certainly didn't help with recovery but the original injury is what the problem was, especially for a man of his size.

He was just unlucky. I don't think it's even been proven that his first case came from the Bucs locker room and he could have picked it up anywhere (we were in NE for training camp the week before- could've got it there).

His second case didn't come from the Bucs locker room.

I think he's done too.

Hopefully he'll be alright. Guys only 31 and is one of the best guards in football, to soon for him to retire.

As someone who, unfortunately, is now a carrier of MRSA, I can tell you, when you get an infection, the pain is quite immense.

I got an infection in my knee, through a surgical removal procedure, gause packing, walking on crutches, unpacking, healing, etc it took me several months to get back to being able to even walk with a fair amount of pressure on my right knee again, since then I've had no issues, but there's always a risk.

I understand he's retiring because of a Lisfranc injury but don't underestimate the affect the MRSA might have had. It's a very nasty thing to have to deal with, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Obviously there are worse things to have to suffer through so I'm not attempting to make any comparisons here, but again, as someone who's been through it, the MRSA could definitely have played a part in this.
