NOT most important, who is the best after

1) Clay Matthews
2) Sam Shields

When this player does good or better the D is top ten. When this player is hurt the D suffers and gets made fun of in NFL gen.

Toss up between Hayward and Daniels. The former has the health concerns whereas the latter has the momentum.

I voted Mike Daniels as our second most important defensive player in the last poll and I will do it again here. The guy is a beast and without his interior pass rush we would be in a whole lot of trouble.

Peppers. Hes the one with the physical talent to just take over a game. He has a few of those games this year, we have a successful defense.

Physical talent maybe back when he was 24. He's over 30 now. Not sure he's got that much left. Here's hoping though.

As for this, I voted Daniels last time, and will do so again.

I agree - in fact Peppers may be 2nd and to underestimate what he has left is a mistake. Now he may need to reduce his number of snaps but he is still a star player.

Definitely voted for Shields as the question before was most important. Now that it's best - Peppers and Daniels are the obvious answers. Gotta go with Peppers for his physical talent/experience.

That was probably my bad. I should have worded the question better on the first one.

I don't understand Peppers over Daniels. Daniels was a better player last year and should be in line for even more opportunity this coming year while Peppers is another year older and pretty much learning a new position and a new playbook.

Peppers should probably be #2 TBH. He's going to command double teams much like Matthews.

Losing the double teams that Cullen Jenkins often required (but usually didn't get) is a big part of what hurt the defense after the Super Bowl win.

Peppers should bring that Jenkins-like presence back to the defense. Opposing offenses are in trouble.

And is a genetic freak and a once in a decade talent, Daniels is a short, explosive bull rusher who while effective is not an elite talent. Pretty easy to me, Peppers.

Woulda put Tramon over over Shields so Tramon it is. Him being healthy seems to make a huge impact on our secondary.

Want to vote for Peppers but I just can't pull that trigger quite this early.

Also, I think Raji is gonna be mighty important this year.
