What are some of the most intriguing positional battles heading into camp? I dont have alot of time, so I will only do 2 for now. Might add to later.

QB: Schaub vs McGloin vs Carr

- I personally think it is Schaubs job to lose. DA keeps referring to Schaub as being a top 10 QB in the NFL, the players keep saying he is taking a strong leadership role and building rapports with one another, etc, etc. However, it still will be an open competition. If Schaub fails in TC and pre-season, I can see McGloin or Carr taking over. Big if though.

Prediction: #1 Schaub, #2 McGloin, #3 Carr

TE: Rivera vs Ausberry vs Kasa

Probably our weakest unit on our team in my opinion. Rivera proved to be a solid pass catcher last season in his opportunities, but did not offer much as a blocker. I have heard he has improved that and has gotten stronger. I believe it was Woodley or maybe Sio Moore, who stated Rivera is crazy strong. I still believe there is a lot of hope for Kasa. That kid reminds me alot of Gronk, physically. He was very raw coming out last year, but I predict he is going to really take off within a couple years. Will probably be the #3 TE this year, but will be pushing for the starting roll next year possibly.

Prediction: #1 Rivera, #2 Ausberry, #3 Kasa

LG: Barnes/Boothe/Jackson

Rooting hard for Jackson to earn the starting spot from day one. There's no doubt in my mind he's more talented than the other 2 guys, it's just a matter of how quickly he can grasp the blocking scheme and playbook.

Moore vs. Holmes

I feel like the 3rd WR position is up for grabs. Moore has a great talent and has shown flashes but disappears too much. Holmes conversely came on towards the end of the season making circus catches. Holmes also has elite size for the position. Like Criner I feel like if Moore doesn't show up than he'll lose out on time to Holmes.

I wouldnt count out Little either. It may take him longer to get the offense, but i think he has a chance to beat either of those guys out.

How?

Holmes is bigger, has better hands and has about the same speed.

Moore is faster, has better hands and has big play ability.

Little has only some adventage on Moore in blocking...I can't see him pushing them.
He could push Criner and\or Butler for the 5th or 6th spot at best IMO

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Moore has better hands than Little. He has a ton of drops too and usually at the worst time. It will be interesting to me to see which one of those two guys will step up or if either of them will as you said. I do think Holmes has looked good enough to warrant a rise on the depth chart.

For instance just last year(2013).

Moore caught 46 out of 86 balls and dropped 6 of them for a 7% drop rate.

Little caught 41 out of 99 balls and dropped 6 of them for a 6.1% drop rate.

Moore was probably significantly worse in 2012 and Little in their 2011 rookie season. Its funny that their (maybe not coincidence) new mentor, James Jones had these same type of issues early in his career.

Ya I was surprised that Jones was able to remedy his issues after years of being in NFL. I think it wasn't until like his 5th season that these issues started to go away.

Levi Damien @LeviDamien
Carlos Rogers not practicing. In hat on far side of field. #Raiders

What are these trainers doing to our CB's year after year, lol

So if Hayden is still out guess its between Jones, Chekwa or rookies to take first team snaps.

Vic Tafur @VicTafur
Kevin Burnett and Carlos Rogers are working on the side as players stretch; don't see D.J. Hayden though I have heard boot is off. #Raiders

Yes. I just meant the second starter. Sounds like chekwa got first team reps today.

I think I read somewhere that Chekwa is the #2 with DJ and Rogers out...
