Too early too tell. Hoping he can be a legitimate starter and leader for us.

I think he is going to be a very good starter. Not a top 3 QB, but hover around the top 6-8 mark. Has all the physical traits, as well as the mental traits you could ever want. Size, arm strength, accuracy, smarts, mobility, etc. He just needs to get better pocket presence, which will come in time. I hope Schaub starts this entire year, and Carr starts next year. I expect him to be close to ready by then.

it depends on so many different issues.
his ceiling is fairly high, in my opinion, it's just a matter of how close to it he can come and so much of that is dependent on coaching, team mates, luck with injuries, etc.
i think he has potential to become an elite starter in the league, but we'll have to wait a few years before we really know.

There is a lot to like. Its nice to have a physically talented guy with a great work ethic. I have no clue how good he can be, but investing a 2nd round pick on him is well worth the risk, IMO.

I see him becoming a solid starter. Never an elite QB, but good enough to win with and good enough for us to stop the search that has gone on forever to find a QB. I see a Jay Cutler or Matthew Stafford level starting QB. Which I would be more then happy with.

Living legend how many college games have you seen of Carr?

Carrs ceiling: Brett Favre - elite franchise qb
Carrs floor: Alex Smith- smart game manager

I know expectations set up disappointments but that's how I see how Carrs potential projecting.

I him getting to that level. He could potentially be the next great elite top 5 QB but I don't see him reaching that. Mostly because I see us being a defensive team that won't rely on the passing game.

Alex Smith has no arm, and Carr has a big arm; no comparison.

9 exactly (6 pre draft). I watched 4 games from last season, 2 good/great ones against Boise and San Jose State, and 2 of his poor outings against SD St and the USC game.

I watched 4 games from his junior season. 2 solid games against New Mexico and Wyoming. 2 poor games against Oregon and SDSU.

And could only find 1 game from 2011. A decent game against Mississippi.

I wont deny that he has HUGE potential. And IF he reaches it he has a real shot at being a an elite franchise guy. I just believe his short comings (forcing throws into windows that aren't there and pocket presence) will keep.him from reahing that elite level. I guess time will tell, I'm excited for his future and hope he can reach his ceiling, but again I see him ending up more as a Jay Cutler type player then Brett Favre.

Trust me we will stretch the field this offense had TP and McGloin throwing bombs and McGloin leading the league in 20 plus yard pass plays in just 8 games.

Hey living legend... That USC broke my heart, but Derek was hurt. Do your homework. He played like a warrior which reminds me of brett favre.out of his 36 games he had a couple not so great games but notice how you state those games

I agree we'll stretch the field. I don't think that Carr will be the focus of the offense. I see us as being a defensive team that controls the clock. I think he'll be a more efficient Eli Manning numbers wise.

IMO, he has too much arm talent and smarts to just be a game manager. I think he will be a quality starter who can, on occasion, take over a game.
