With the money cleared from the Woodley deal we will have some cash to sign another FA. Obviously we will have to use a decent chunk of that signing our draft picks, but do you see us signing anyone to fill a hole somewhere? Maybe a starting CB, depth at OLB, veteran NT, or DE? Also we could use that money to get someone in a trade. What do you think?

It wouldn't shock me to see Brett Keisel or James Harrison signed to affordable deals. They'd make good rotational depth.

Yea I'd be ok with that, and I think 3 years ago this is the type of deal we would make, however I am kind of wondering if the team is trying to go in a different direction. I think we could definitely use both, but signing Keisle could slow down the growth of Tuitt.

Yea now that we have this money I'd like to see us bring back Harrison for a fair deal as a backup, incase Jones or Worilds went down. I'm sure we won't see any movement from the two sides right now even if talks have taken place behind closed doors bc I'm sure Harrison doesn't want to attend all of training camp.

I also have hope that a veteran CB gets the boot and we give them a decent deal in case Ike starts stinking it up again. But if we could get a vet for a cheap price before the season kickoffs, bring back Harrison, and sign the rooks I'd be one happy Waffle going into September.

That's true, perhaps it's some thing they do in August, depending upon how the young guys at their positions look.

The thing that I think is really scary is OLB if someone goes down for a long period of time. Woirlds hasn't exactly been completely healthy over the course of his career and if something were to happen to him or Jones we could be in a delima. I guess Timmons could move out there and Williams in his spot, but I'd feel better with a veteran OLB like Harrison there just in case. There is the guy we got from Buffalo but I don't really know what to expect from him.

CB is also a position I' m concerned about. If Ike goes down or flat out sucks witch both are a possibility then we could be in trouble. I think we have some quantity at CB now with Richardson and the guy we signed from Housten but I feel like we lack quality at the position. I don't see anyone there who really has a high ceiling, maybe Allen could be good but he is on a one year contract.

If nothing else we could always use some of the money to help front load an extension for someone like Ben, Allen, Pouncey or Heyward.

With the amount of snaps rookies and second year players are gonna be taking I think its a no brainer.

Guess we'll see what the brass thinks.

+1
With injury history , depth is required, and these 2 add quality depth and might be able to start if the players currently don't play at a high level.

You're assuming of course that these Pro Bowl Veterans would be wiling to sign in a way that they understand it's for depth/bench purposes. I'm not saying they wont but we know egos can get in the way and that rubs some people the wrong way.

Keisel yes, Silverback I would be ok with giving a tryout too, see if he still has something from a pass rush standpoint left.

I wouldn't mind signing Harrison but signing Keisel would be terrible. My thought process in this is, if they sign Keisel he will end up starting by the end of training camp. I am not real comfortable with JJ starting full time. With Harrison we won't need to lean on JJ so much. I think we do need to lean on the "new blood" on the D-line.

Even though Tuitt has not played a single down in the NFL I am much more comfortable with him starting at DE than I am with JJ starting at OLB.

I'm not complaining but it would surprise me honestly if we did anything.

IMHO, Keisel is LeBeau's safety blanket. If he does not think Thomas/Tuitt/Arnfeldt can start he will push to resign Keisel.

Center Velasco if he's available. We didn't miss Pouncey one bit with him in there. He can play at center until Pouncey is ready to start and be a quality backup after.

And we didnt miss Velasco when Cody Wallace came in.

In fact, our running game got better.

Thats why they signed Wallace for 3 years.

Velasco wont be coming back unless there is another injury.

On top of that, not even sure if Velasco is medically cleared yet.
