Perhaps Reggie could land us a coveted 2015 draft pick. With the drafting of Mack

Our starting backers will be
Mack, Roach, Moore as you may know being on this site(fanatics blog about sports)

Kevin Burnett is a career starter who is coming off a good year 104 tackles, a modest salary and a good vet with leadership. A couple teams with playoff aspirations have suffered major losses recently. Cowboys have lose sean Lee, and k Burnett was drafted by the cowboys. Cardinals lost Darryl Washington for the year. Both teams are in the win now mode, and Burnett can fill a major need. Free agent market is thin. Could we possibly luck out on 3rd- 4th round pick? Would you be in favor of such a move[/i]

LOL.

Why have any depth on this team? And like Darkness said, there is no way he goes for that much.

So the short answer is an astounding NO

Burnett was PFF's 5th best run stopping OLB. If he translates anything like that at MLB on 1st and 2nd down, then roach can cover/rush the passer on 3rd (which he excels at) and we'll have an excellent ILB combo for the forseeable future. I hope Dallas gets desperate and tries to get him, but I think burnett is a quality vet who i want to keep on the team.

He would probably nab us a 7th. I would definitely hold onto him. He offers great depth and leadership.

Im with everyone else in thinking he would only bring a 7 maybe a 6 to a desperate team. But IF he was to bring a three or four then HE GONE!!!

Mack/Moore/Roach will probably be playing at least 800 snaps each. The only way Burnett sees any substantial playing time is if someone gets hurt. I'm not sure how much sense it makes to be paying a backup over $4 million, plus we'll save $3.5 million against the cap. I'd be stoked if we could get anything for him, but I could see us releasing him on final cuts. That fact that he is the only guy not here for OTAs also says something. I'm wondering if he wants to get released so he can find a place to start somewhere else.

One of the weird things about a 3-4 is it requires 4 linebackers.

Do you think our lb unit can survive without Burnett? Back ups could be
The Rocks cousin, Burris, Burnetts little brother... His chance to get a bigger role or Carlos Fields, or another cheap vet

When we go 3-4 Woodley and Mack will be the OLB/Edge Rushers and Moore/Roach will be the ILBs. Burnett still won't start.

Burnett is an aging, declining LB who struggles in coverage. There's no trade value there.

Hopefully he shows up to mandatories with a good attitude and can help mold these young LBs we're relying so heavily on.

More valuable to us as a backup than as a 6th or 7th trade bait.

Again, I can't see the team paying a backup $4 million. I would assume they would rather see what they have with their young talent at a tenth of the price of Burnett. Like I said earlier, I think he will be a part of the final cuts. I'd want to keep him around as long as possible just as insurance in case Moore or Roach get hurt during training camp.

Chances are that at least one LB will be hurt whether its a starter or one of our best backups. So unless some UDFA guys step up no reason to release him. Potentially they could just extend him a year and pay him 4mil over two years instead of one and convert the money to all gaurenteed to make the deal sweeter for him.

There is a lot of different ways to go with him but no need for panic button moves. We have cap room and we have time. I think they will just let things play out.
