Apparently the A's put in so many 'outs' in the deal, giving them a ton of control to break the lease whenever they wanted for various reasons. Leo Wolff is being smart about the situation.

Shocked they didnt even show up to vote?? City of Oakland get you Sh** together seriously.....of all the cities in the world Oakland should be doing everything..no..they should be begging to keep their teams..seriously Marks gotta walk out, thats the only way they will take him seriously... Confused

Oaktown is looking more and more like a bad area. Read a week ago that a reporter got her purse snatched after doing a report where another woman was mugged in the area.

LA has had its share of crime, but it's been a steady decline the past 5 years.

I dont believe the decision to stay or move will be based on crime. Its going to come down to a stadium. LA looks more likely than Oakland to make that happen

My initial point that I made before was that its not a good destination. Not really accommodating for teams or even to draw a super bowl.

I disagree. Look at Minnesota, they don't have anything but because they got a new stadium they get to host a super bowl.

whats the holdup with the Raiders situation, seriously? The city just doesn't want to pay/doesn't have the funds for a new stadium?

I don't know anything about the negotiations, costs, shared burdens, etc with these discussions, but if your job is to better the city/county it's different than if you're a fan. As fans, we want the Raiders to stay here and have a nice, kick [inappropriate/removed] stadium. But would it be worth the amount of money you would have to pay for it?

It's like buying a car. Actually, it's like buying a car for someone else. Personally, I'd love to have my girl go buy a Tesla Model S, but we have to consider the money. I don't have enough money for everything we need, and since I knocked up my gf I have to make the kid a priority. Would we be better off getting her a Volvo and using the rest of the money on a crib, diapers, car seat, etc? Or maybe we can just keep our current cars for longer and move into a bigger house.

Like I said, I don't know what the cost burdens will be for the stadium. If Tesla is going to pay for 90% of it and it costs us the same as the Volvo then maybe I pull the trigger on it. If I do the math on the gas savings and it pays for itself in 5 years then I might, but it's a bit less likely.

Raiders and Rams are HUGE down in So Cal still. People in LA might feel betrayed because the Rams left for Anaheim in the 80s and the Raiders took over.

I think the joint practices with the Cowboys in Oxnard is a subtle start.

I've met a few Rams fans growing up in So Cal but there is definitely no team with a fan-base as strong as the one that the Raiders have down in the Los Angeles area.

http://espn.go.com/blog/oakland-raiders/post/_/id/4923/does-as-coliseum-lease-affect-raiders

Really great article about the current issues regarding the coliseum. Had a ton of succinct points about a lot of complicated issues. It's interesting because there's no cut and dry meaning to anything that's happened thus far.

Neat recap of what I fund interesting:

-Davis needed A's + Wolfe to make future intentions known before proceeding (with coliseum city idea)

-A's sign 10 yr lease. Good to go

-Not so fast, A's can opt out at any point with 2 yrs notice

-In order for coliseum city to get started, #1 is O.co needs to be torn down.

-A's need to play in coliseum, meaning it can't be torn down in 2015 like Davis thought may be available to do

-Still no big deal, if A's say "let's do coliseum city", good to go. Build two stadiums, both parties on board.

-But "Apparently Wolfe and Colony Capitalís (Davis' funding partner) vision donít seem to mesh"

-So here we are. Gotten so far and we're still in the middle of no where.

Mark Davis needs to put his foot down and say that we either a.) get a new stadium in Oakland as soon as possible or b.) we're moving the team to Los Angeles. There's no reason that we should be stuck playing in that crap hole anymore and playing with the baseball diamond on our field for the first few home games of the season.

I think Los Angeles would be a nice move, honestly. A fresh start for the organization and hopefully we'll have a nice young team and guys like Carr and Mack will have shown flashes of helping us turn this thing around by the time that we would be moving down to LA.

I agree that it'll never happen, but Vegas Raiders does have a nice ring to it.
I also disagree with the notion that there're too many distractions in LV.
Distractions are available everywhere, especially given player salaries.

I don't ever want to see the Raiders leave California. If they moved the team to Portland or Las Vegas I'd be super mad. We need to be in Oakland or Los Angeles.

I live in Vegas. The viability of a professional sports team has been debated for quite a long time. The only major obstacle has been casinos as they would be the major buyers of luxury suites, which are the lifeblood of stadium revenues. Casinos can't envision giving tickets away to their customers to be away from the casino for an extended amount of time.

That being said I would LOVE to see it happen.
