Looks like a 7th round draft choice IMO. Misses or whiffs a lot of tackles. Always looking to 'hit' rather than make a good form tackle on ball carriers. In coverage, seems late getting to spots or sometimes turned around all together.

Never makes a wrap up tackle. Just tries to hit w/ the shoulder which I hate w/ DBs.

Also, no wonder his positional coach tore pieces off him. Not every player might not respond well to being shouted at but at some stage you just how to let loose as a coach if everything else hasn't worked. Who knows, maybe if they guy actually tried to tackle with his arms his coach wouldn't have shouted at him.

The trick for him is going to be how coachable he is. If he's receptive to coaching, and our coaches get through to him and teach him, then he'll stick around. If not, he's gone. But that's the beauty of the pick. He's all potential and just a 7th round commitment. So we can find out if he blatantly doesn't have it in 1 offseason and cut our losses. We can PS him if we want too. I think being around CWood and Allen will be good for him. But if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Not like he's a top choice.

Seems like the difference being coached hard and a player that was used to being to coddled. I didn't watch too much of his film but he hits like a CB.

Interesting.

First thing i thought when i saw him. He'd need to add at least 20 lbs to be a safety in the NFL. Right now, he's a stick.

And I think Carrie would make a better FS than CB.

I wondered the same thing about Dowling as well for the reasons you mentioned. Plus Reggie keeps adding big CBs. Either way, I'm intrigued by Dowling and am anxious to follow his progress (or maybe lack there of) in TC.

Raidin can't hate on to many of the early picks so he has to be negative about the late rounders. Pretty pathetic Laughing

Never makes a wrap up tackle. Just tries to hit w/ the shoulder which I hate w/ DBs.

Interesting that you single out that one play because the rest of it looked pretty good. Just sayin.

What video were you watching? It can't have been the one I liked if you think the rest of it was pretty good.

It shows there's a lot to correct in the way he plays. It also shows he has some natural skills to make him a worthy developmental prospect. I think he'll end up on the PS if he comes to TC with the right attitude. If not, goodbye.

I dunno man, he looked not too good. Best way I can put it.

Thing is, it's not a complicated issue at all. It's not a lack of ability either. He just does not open his arms and tackle. Just doesn't. If they can get him to, I think everything else will be plenty good enough to make this team. But you can't play safety in the NFL and not ever lift your arms to tackle anyone.

hopefully he can change that...I have hope because he doesnt mind hitting..it would be one thing if he tried to tackle like van dyke..but he doesnt mind the contact.

To be fair, he forced 9 fumbles in college and absolutely laid some people out. At times he looks undraftable and at times he lays calvin pryor wood. I like his potential. He has a better chance of making the roster as a backup FS than Ross.
