Not sure what happened with Smith. I will admit as a Wyo native, I fly blind and root hard for their players to make an impact to put that program on the map.

Accuracy was a big issue with him. The fact the cut him and brought in Alex Tanney..... yikes

And 6'1" 285lbs of Aaron Donald would destroy them both in 3 seconds flat Wink

I already praised them for the pick.
not like I'd change allegiances for a college prospect that I like.
I'm not all fickle and smelly like some mods i know...

Smith has no experience taking snaps from under center. He needed to get drafted to buy himself some time. He'll be my favorite QB in Canada. That's probably his best chance to get back in the NFL.

Raiders are trying to strike gold on a future LT it seems. Spending a draft pick there still seems like a blow after losing Veldheer.

I highly doubt he makes the roster as an OT. If he makes the practice squad it'll be at RG. Nix is on notice.

To be fair he was an UDFA in his rookie year thrown into a patched up OL playing in front of a QB with awful pocket awareness. Now, I'm not saying he will ever be a great or even good player at the NFL level but I think he deserves the chance to at least show something this off season before we move on.............probably most UDFA linemen we bring in are going to be at a similar level of play anyway.

This. While Nix was headache inducing last year, this falls into that 'impatient' pile around here. Nix and Mady take so much flak. Both were URFA who needed time to learn the pro game and develop. Unfortunately that wasn't an option in OAkland because the talent is that poor and injuries stacked up.

Hopefully the Raiders don't have to force players in anymore.

Brett Smith must have some really glaring flaws to be cut after a week.
