Now that we have no more picks at the moment how will the Titans address kicker? UFA? trade back in? Or some vet?

They'll likely bring in 1 or 2 from UDFA.

We do have a kicker on our team, I don't think we trade back in, so only real option is through FA or UDFA. We will likely bring in 1 or 2 more guys to compete via UDFA, and if we're not happy, we will sign a kicker. Every year a team signs a kicker and a veteran thats still a solid option gets cut.

I'm definitely feeling very uneasy about our kicking situation as well. Bonani looked terrible last preseason. After looking at Travis Coons' stats it looks like he was pretty good this past year hitting on 93.8 percent of his kicks. He only missed one kick from 40+ this past year, but he apparently never attempted a 50+ yard field goal in his career. His percentages from 2012 were pretty bad only hitting on 64.3 percent of his kicks. So, hopefully this last year is a sign of things to come with a consistent kicker in the NFL, otherwise we should have Rob on speed dial.

I have no problem with Coons, I would really like to see us bring in someone else for competition. Catanzaro from Clemson has not signed yet(have not found anything saying he has), he might make some sense. We could also look for kickers playing well in the pre-season and sign them if they are let go. Fera, Santos and Boswell are still worth watching.

Quote:
Free agent K Jeff Reed wants to return to the NFL.
Reed hasn't kicked in a game since 2010 when he made 24-of-32 field goals in 14 games with the Steelers and 49ers. The longtime Steelers kicker is still just 35 and owns an 82.2 career success rate on field goals. He says he's spoken with ex-Steelers OC Ken Whisenhunt and the Titans about a potential workout. Someone the team may take a look at.

What that story neglects is that the Titans already said their not interested.

Quote:
Reed said heís spoken to Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt, who was on the Steelers staff during some of Reedís tenure in Pittsburgh, about coming in for a workout although Reed says the coach was honest about the teamís desire to go with a younger option. Reed, who made 82.2 percent of his field goal tries over a 10-year career, could also be a possibility at some point down the road if a team grows dissatisfied with their current kickers.

Why am I not surprised? More hard hitting Titans research by rotoworld. Can't trust anything they say about the team. Laughing
