The Titans drafted Taylor Lewan in the 1st round and it looks like they're going to cut Michael Roos. He'd be a good get for us as a stop-gap LT this season and probably wouldn't cost a fortune either.

I'm game for it. I think we jump on that immediately once he's cut.

And if he isn't asking for a ridiculous amount of money, I think it would be a fantastic pick-up.

For all the talk about the talent our offense has lost, I think the addition of Roos makes our offense look more appealing on paper than it did last year. Michael Roos is still a one of the best left tackles in the NFL and the only reason there are talks about cutting him is because Tennessee is looking to get younger and the amount of money he is owed. Adding Roos, a guy I would take over Gross, would make our offensive line that much better.

LT - Michael Roos
LG - Amini Silatolu (I have high hopes for him; showed vast improvement prior to his injury)
C - Ryan Kalil
RG - Trai Turner
RT - Byron Bell

I already think our interior OL has potential to be among the best in the NFL, assuming Turner turns out to be as good as I think he will be and is capable of and Silatolu continues to get better. I certainly like our odds in 2014 if we have a top flight front seven and a formidable offensive line.

getting roos would a coup. I'd still want to draft a OT so we can eventually let bell go. I'd also want to re-sign Wharton if possible for depth. draft another wr and cb and I'd consider this offseason as a win

I personally think that Bell has became quiet serviceable for us. It would be nice to have someone waiting in the wings, like James Hurst or even Tiny Richardson.

Wait, what? We're going to cut Roos?

First time I'm hearing this.

I do believe Roos is on his final year in 2014, so after the season it's highly likely we simply let him walk, but to cut him before that? I don't think that is very likely.

I see Roos as LT, Lewan as RT, and Oher as swing / backup for this year.

You are welcome to give us a day 2 pick for him if you want him right away though.

Personally, I believe Roos still has plenty left in the tank and remains one of the better LTs in the game. It's part of the reason why I hated the Lewan pick, especially since now it seems that we are probably not going to resign Roos.

If he were to get released, I wouldn't get my hopes up. When was the last time the Panthers signed someone that everyone wanted?

Oher signed a 4 year 20M contract, I can't see him making him a "swing or backup."

Maybe they move him inside and see if he excels there.

Oher isn't moving inside when they have Levitre and Warmack... and 2nd rounder Brian Schwenke at center.

Lewan will either get redshirted and start next season or Roos is getting cut right now.

I brought this up in the draft thread and all about it.
Roos has like a 6.5m cap number and can be cut no cost to them.
You don't draft Lewan that high and him redshirt!

No you don't. Lewan is perfectly capable of playing either OT spot right now.

I think it's far more likely that one of the most talent deficient teams in the NFL allows their top 11 pick a year to redshirt and allows Roos to walk next year entering his age 32 season. At the very least they could allow him to, again, inexplicably challenge $20m dollar man Michael Oher on the right side.

The Titans aren't hurting for cap space. They're projected to have $19m left on this years cap, so it wouldn't make any sort of tangible impact to simply cut Roos. They could potentially fetch a 5th-6th round pick if they wished to move him. Eugene Monroe was in the same contract situation last year when he was moved, but he was 4 years younger than Roos, and in the prime of his career. He received a 4th and 5th.

I'd love it, but I don't think it'll happen...it just doesn't make much sense for Tennessee, IMO. Granted, they have a new coaching staff, so perhaps they're not on his side. I guess we'll see, but it's all just speculation.
