I can live with it. The playmakers we all wanted are gone.

I mean I thought he was a solid prospect. Hell of a run stuffer. Didn't think he was a 3-4 fit and I don't like taking players that fail drug tests at the combine.

I don't HATE the pick.

Well... this pick definitely fits that 43 defense it looks like we're shifting to. Jernigan is someone I haven't truly focused on in scouting, but was apparently the top 1-tech in the draft. Warren Sapp absolutely loved the guy and thought he was on a similar level as Aaron Donald.

Not a flash pick, and I guess I was wrong about us not needing DTs, but there's potential here.

We're just not going to be drafting offensive players anymore. Laughing

The team is offended that we needed elite QB play to win a SB and is now out to prove we can do it on defense alone.

This was one of the top run stoppers in the draft, and I think this is directly related to the more agile LBs we are playing behind our line. We are essentially giving them blockers so they can make plays and be the stars of our defense.

My guess is that this is the end of Mount Cody.

McShay is an idiot. He has no clue what he's talking about. Jernigan is a perfect fit for the Ravens as a 3-4 strong side end (5-technique). The Ravens have now drafted two of the top 20 players on my Regardless of Position list (along with the Rams, Browns and Vikings). Jernigan was best player available.

Ozzie is being Ozzie. Loading up on talent and not reaching to fill a need (thus depleting the talent pool). At different points during the evaluation process, Jernigan and Mosley were both considered top 10 talents. This draft will pay dividends for years.

They better be. Jernigan has no value in a 3-4. Especially in a 2-gap scheme like Pees uses. I think he's good at what he does but the team better be putting him in a position to succeed because I don't see Jernigan as a guy that you just plug-and-play anywhere.

EDIT - Okay, I think Jernigan could succeed at nose tackle in a 3-4 the more I think about it. He kind of has the Kelly Gregg game and frame. I'm not thrilled about the prospects of Brandon Williams potentially staying at 5-technique though.

You know I think Im obsessing to much over the scheme fit. I like having a lot of bodies up front and the ability to use a bunch of different looks.

Ability is nothing if the different looks aren't actually utilized. I have no faith in Pees to do so. None.

Well, with the young talent we're accumulating on the defense the last two years, maybe he gets the Cam Cameron treatment if they underperform.

Dare to dream, but it's a theory.

Isn't Spags like the Assistant Head Coach. Does that mean he can overrule Pees? While also being under him... Think Laughing

If we don't switch to a 43 base then someone needs to be fired.
