So I'm going with Missouri defensive end Kony Ealy if he slips to here.

If anyone is interested our team reporter for ESPN, David Newton, believes Kony Ealy will be the pick.

Not really a surprise. The "if he slips to here" is the big if.

I'm not as high on him as most, but he is the type of DE we like.

Do you think he'll make it to us?

I think the biggest factor is how high Anthony Barr goes. Ealy will be the next DE taken, so if Barr goes top 11, Ealy could go to Dallas. Cincy would be another possibility, but other than those two, most teams in his range are looking for 3-4 OLB's, not really 4-3 DE's. So unless someone really thinks he can stand up, his suitors are really limited.

So who knows. He could go as early as 16, or he could easily fall to us. I'd say its 50/50 right now.

I just want the best player, If Ealy is there and he is our highest rated prospect on our board, I would expect him to take him. I don't expect Gettleman to be a gambling man, if the top Lineman are gone, I really don't believe that he will reach for one to fill a need. I'm pretty sure we are just going to bypass a receiver in the first anyway, so, we'll see what happens. I'm excited for whomever we draft.

I think Kuechley is a better LB than Newton is a QB. But QB is the most important single position on the field. So its a no brainer. Newton.

Easy decision. If you can't score points, you can't win games. The Peyton Manning Colts never had a great defense but they won games because they had a great passing game. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting 3 targets for Cam. Double dipping on WR and possibly a TE

if we take a DE i will be livid. What it means is Hardy is gone and we are paying him $10 mil for one year and that money could have gone to a top player. then we are drafting for zero need and we still have three huge holes in the Oline, at the corners, and wideouts

Actually it's the other way around, the year the colts won, their defense allowed 15.4 points a game. Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark are definitely good enough to sell tickets but even HoF offensive players can not win the big game without a defense.

There will never be a player on offense who could single handily win the Superbowl. In fact, I'll go as far to say that no offensive unit could ever win the Superbowl single handedly.

The Greatest show on turf? Their D averaged 15.1 ppg.

The 49er Superbowls? Their D at worst let up 18 PPGs.

Defense can, and has won a Superbowl without an offense.

Dan Marino does not have a ring.

If you went through the HoFers and separated them by offense and defense I would be willing to bet that offense would have way more players without rings. I don't feel like looking it up. You can have Randy Moss, Chris Carter, and Randell Cunningham on your team, still not win a championship.

In keeping with the Vikings, I think they are the only team in NFL history to have a historical defense and not win a Superbowl. (Outlier)

As for historical offenses winning the big game, I'm not going to insult anyone's intelligence and act like any of you haven't been watching football for the last ten years.

Insurance. Make a strength even stronger. You can never have to many good players.

I want a DE at some point, just need the value to be right. I don't like Ealy in the first, or Martin/Crichton in the 2nd, but thats likely the spots we'd be considering them.

A guy I like is Will Clarke, might be able to get him in the 4th.

Or maybe you think you you're smarter than you actually are.

I mean anyone with half a brain can realize that there's a difference between a position of which only one can be on the field at once like a QB, and a position like DE which two start at all times, and on most third sub packages we use 3. And it's not like we don't have a primary backup suspended and likely going to be released, along with one who is only guaranteed to be on the team for one year as it stands now. Or the fact that in todays NFL having 3 capable DE's allows for rotation that can keep out pass rush stronger into the 4th quarter.

So instead of insulting other members for simply having a different opinion than yours, you should think about how idiotic the things that come from you are.

one of hardy or cj are gonna be gone soon.

frank alexander is likely being cut. wes horton looked OK as a UDFA. mario addison is a tweener.

wouldnt be surprised if a DE is selected high. keep your strengths strong etc.
