Even without the Josh Johnson 2.0 pick, pretty meh overall.
As was mentioned previously, the Clayborn trade makes no sense. _________________

So taking Crichton , why keep Clayborn if you can get day 3 value?
I'm trying to pin point where some actually think Clayborn or glennon is worth day two or even 4th rd picks? Both were near the bottom of their rankings as starters last year. In my mock taking Crichton gives us a Gholston/Johnson/Crichton/bowers/means as DEs. Why not trade Clayborn ? You're not going to resign him. Writing seems to be on the wall as nothing positive was said about him coming in by lovie nor Frazier. |

I like the trade down for OBJ, but it ends there for me.
I won't address the Garoppolo pick. That's your guy and I can respect you for sticking to your guns.
The Crichton pick is a weird one. Not that I don't like him or anything, but it creates more problems than it solves. We already have a crowded DE rotation. Why draft a DE that high? The fact that it leads to Clayborn being traded makes it even worse. There really is no need to trade Clayborn. He's on a one year deal and he has hungry DEs like Gholston and Bowers waiting behind him. He has every motivation to bring it this season to prove himself and cash in on a new deal. Why wouldn't you want to see what he can do in a defense that doesn't ask him to cover Darren Sproles?
We are getting robbed if we deal Glennon for a 6th rounder. I don't think he's the answer long-term, but damn he's worth much more than that. He has a cheap contract for 3 more years and he has proven himself to be a solid caretaker. If Charlie friggin Whitehurst can be traded for a 3rd round pick and a swap of 2nd rounders, Glennon is at least worth that. Solid QBs don't grow on trees. You could do a hell of a lot worse than Glennon. |
