The #Seahawks have locked up star safety Earl Thomas to a blockbuster long-term extension, source says. Easily the highest-paid safety.

Will post numbers when I get them.

Earl Thomas has agreed to a massive 4-year extension with the Seahawks that I'm told makes him highest paid safety ever by a "wide margin"

The #Seahawks four-year extension for safety Earl Thomas pays him $40 million base value with $27.725 million guaranteed, source says.

Anxious to see the numbers. I really don't mind if he's paid quite a bit more than the current high salary at his position. I think he's clearly the best player at his position in the league and he deserves elite money. This explains why Sherman contract negotiations leaked, they were likely already coming to a close with Earl.

Interesting. Should allow him the opportunity to earn a 2nd lucrative contract. Really like it for both sides.

Glad we got him signed wouldn't be surprised if Sherman is done in the next few days doesn't sound like this affects our cap for this year.

Great deal. 10M is about what I expected. Interesting it's only 4 years, but I would have to guess his agent wants to outcome for the fact that the CAP is increasing by so much

I like it. The actual his this year won't be as advertised, so we have room to make a good offer to Sherman and maybe even sneak in an extension for another key piece (like Wagner or Baldwin)

I don't think any extension will go on this year's cap. I'm sure the goal is to just have as much roll-over as possible.

Not a bad contract. Personally would have liked to see longer term. But the pay was really close to expected value. And a great way to look at this is the cap is projected to break 150M by 2017. By signing these guys now, it won't hurt our salary cap situation as much as I thought.

Which is why I think we're not seeing a 6 year deal here

John Schneider working his magic yet again Laughing

I think that a 4 year extension is great. ET is locked in for 5 more years and if he's not dropping off by the end of that, he can get more money. Love it.

The numbers are great too.

Love it! I'm glad we're getting these done early. Sherm should be soon and I read they are working with Wilson to get a deal done as well. I guess I can keep my Thomas jersey for the foreseeable future. Hope he'll retire a Seahawk with more than just one ring.

They can't talk contract with Wilson until after this season.

Love this deal, can keep wearing my ETIII for years to come. Best secondary player in the NFL and a chance to be amongst the best ever at the position.

LOVE IT!
