simple question. if the lions trade up in the draft who do you want them to get. (*if this is done already this can get locked haven't seen it)

i have been reading some Gm's prefer Evan's to Watkins, Clowney is the best athlete(per most ppl that follow football) and Mack is a wild card out of the bunch (kinda reminds me on Von Miller)

I selected Clowney.

I view him and Mack as the highest potential impact players and given the cost to move up I hope its for one of them.

I'm going Watkins. While I love Evans, I don't know that he's worth trading up for (unless we're talking a relatively cheap 1 or 2 spots). Clowney, well, I've made my thoughts clear on that in other threads. I love Mack, but I don't know that he's enough of an upgrade over Levy to fit the win now mentality, and I think a third linebacker is a luxury pick at this point.

Im set on Watkins as the best prospect in this draft, so him.

Id be okay with a trade up for Mack.

Dont want Clowney unless he falls to 10.

Clowney only one worth it. He is clearly best player in draft. Additionally the diff between him and next best at his position huge. Watkins not even the clear cut best WR. I would rate him on same level as Matthews and. Beckham.

While I love Gilbert he may be second CB off board after Fuller

I guess I'll be the first one to say it.

Depends on how far we would have to trade up.

Would I trade up to the top 3 for Mack (as an example)? Probably not.

Would I trade up to 6-9 for Mack? Much more likely.

Mack. As a tremendously versatile player that can cover and pass-rush and fit in a lot of different packages and schemes, he's the ideal player to complete our front 7. I believe he could be a better fit than even Clowney. He can replace Palmer in base 4-3 sets, and Jones/Taylor in nickel sets. A really well-rounded player that has a skillset I've fallen in love with. While I love Watkins, I think fundamentally, the cost is too high as somewhat of a "imagine X, Y, and Z mismatches" offensive luxury pick. And Clowney would be confined to a front four, rather than front 7, player who has real whispers of Fairley within him, with the work ethic and attitude concerns.

What about Oakland's 5?

Wouldn't what we are giving up be more important than where we would happen to trade up to? What would you be willing to give up?

More important is what we have to give up. I'm willing to move up for any of Mack, Clowney, Robinson or Watkins and would prefer it just be the last one left assuming cheapest value applies. For a reasonable package I'd probly be willing to jump a pick or two for Mathews, Donald or Evans. Mostly because on my board that really where the first distinct drop off starts.

If I have to pick one I'd say Watkins just because as everyone knows I have my doubts with Clowney but the more I think about it the more I'd absolutely hate to see a trade up no matter who it's for....with what we have, what will likely still be available at 10 (or even 45), and the cost to trade up (45+ additional picks) none of the "top 5" prospects are so far ahead of the rest IMO to make it worth it with the needs we have as neither WR or DE is what I would consider a "desperate" need.

If there was a prospect at the level of Watkins at S or CB then I'd be all for it but there isn't so yeah...

It really depends on where we're trading up for. I'd almost be happier with a move up to 5 or 6 that costs less for Mack than for a move up to 2 or 3 that costs more for Clowney.

IF the Lions do move up I hope it's for one of those two players and not for Watkins, considering the depth in this draft for receiver.
