I'd like to get a discussion on a draft selection system going. We only have two days before we pick though so it will have to be quick. My suggestion is something simple that won't take a lot of time to compile like everybody posting their top 3-5 (a set number to be decided, not a range). I'm not sure what went on with FFMD I this year but going off of last year's FFMD II the point system added to the top 5 got a bit tedious and didn't work too well if there wasn't a lot of votes. Let me know what you think.

Something else we need to decide on is who to put on the trade block. To be honest I don't think there's anybody on the roster that we can really afford to get rid of without needing an immediate replacement. I like where we stand right now but if there's a consensus of who should be on there I'll put it up.

I also need a volunteer for the Assistant GM. This role will basically be a an insurance in case I'm not here as well as having the authority to seek out trade offers.

Anything else?

I like the top 3 point system. I agree top 5 gets a little too much.

I'd offer to be assistant GM but I don't think I'll be around enough to ensure picks are made/seek trade offers. But, if nobody else wants to, I don't mind doing what I can.

A top 3 point system would be alright. Using 3-2-1 as the point values is probably the best way to do it. Something like 5-3-1 might be decent too.

Sure, why not. I'll try and offer input whenever I can. Hopefully this version will be more uh, 'enjoyable'. Laughing

Oh it will be. The fun is in the simplicity. I think this version appeals to more people on the forum. Well, at least those that aren't burned out from FFMD I. Razz

Our first pick will be on the clock at 9 am EST (if not sooner) tomorrow morning. If possible I'd like to get our draft board set tonight since I know it won't there won't be many around that early when we are officially ready to make the selection.

I'm going to go ahead and use the top three voting system with points. If a list is posted with more than three players I'll just count the first three so make sure you order them correctly. First place on the list will receiver 3 points, second place will receive 2 points, and third place will receiver 1 point. Obviously the prospect with the most points will end up being the pick.

With that in mind who are we going after? There seems to be a decent split among the forum in the real-life draft discussions so this should get interesting. At the moment I don't have anybody specific in mind and I think the talent is good enough to truly wait and see who falls to 17 or in that range since I'd like to get the board going early.

With only being able to guess who would be around at #17, here is my top 3 list:

Zack Martin
CJ Mosley
Eric Ebron

I received a PM about the Vikings being interested in moving down from the 8th pick. Do we have any interest in moving up? I'm inclined to say no but it's up to the majority.

There are literally only two players I would be willing to trade up for if they were to be available at pick 8: Clowney and Robinson. Other than that, I don't see it being worth it.

Depends on what they want. I'd love to move up and get Evans, but I'd assume they'd want our #2 and I'm not willing to do that.

And just like that Mike Evans get drafted by Tampa Bay with the 7th pick. Yeah, I really don't see anybody worth going up for.

Get those boards/votes in sometime tonight everybody. I'd wait a it and see how most of the next few picks go but definitely aim to put them in before you go to bed unless you know you'll be able to tomorrow morning in our time slot.

I don't get the CJ Mosley inclusion... did Arthur Brown or Daryl Smith start making it rain in the club or something, were they caught in an illegal money laundering scheme by Ozzie? As it stands both would be the starters. And ILB is a position where you don't need a guy to sit for a year or two to throw him out there. Selecting Mosley would either be a waste of a 2014 1st or of a 2013 2nd IMO...
============================

In terms of Big Boards, I'll post an unofficial Big Board that probably covers the best prospects that'll be available at our pick:

1a. Trade down

1b. Kyle Fuller, CB, VT
2. Jordan Matthews, WR, Vandy
3. Zack Martin, OL, ND

Not sure if we were doing PMs or just posting our big boards here, but mine would look like:

1. Zack Martin, OL
2. Trade Down
3. Darqueze Dennard, CB
4. Calvin Pryor, FS
