I don't trust Jack Del Rio enough to be the absolute best defensive team in the NFL. I think this team can be top 5 though like we were back in 2012 in both pass and rush defense. I would love to see this team somehow be the best defense in football though because we know the offense is going to be there.

Good post AAA. People forget how good our " banged up" defense was in the playoffs. Phil Rivers and Tom Brady were practically shut out until the fourth quarters, and even in the Super Bowl they did their best to keep it close but were let down by turnovers and special teams.

Having that unit back together AND returners from injury AND new signings, I really think we might have the best defense in football. The offense might take a step back though.

There is a zero percent chance we will have the best defense in football. Seattle, Carolina, SF are three that are absolutely better, and you could make a case for a bunch more. Denver just needs to be Top 10-12 in defense and they'll be fine.

I am an Economist and I worked with a boat load of statistics, and a zero percent chance is 100% wrong.

Hmm. Can Denver beat the Seahawks now? IMO they could have beaten them last year, if they hadn't crumpled under the pressure of playing in the Superbowl. In terms of pure talent vs pure talent, we were the superior team then, and we're still the superior team now. What this team needs is to toughen up mentally, which is going to require someone not named Peyton Manning to step up as a major leader. I do think that our defense is going to be fearsome this year with the additions we made, which should help some. My biggest hope is that our running game greatly improves this season, which would take the load off of PFM. The good news is that we'll find out in a few months!
