Looks like they thought Mannelly was worth replacing afterall.

With Brandon Hartson also on the roster this move covers us and gives us a competition if Mannelly retires…if he doesn’t I still think we would bring him back.

I'm going to assume there's pretty much no guaranteed money - and the three years on that deal is worth as much as a used napkin.

Mannelly might be done - but signing this kid to a three year deal isn't indicative of that IMO.

Brad Biggs said last night this is just insurance if Pat retires(sounds like he probably wont). The 3 year deal is standard for a "rookie".

His name even sounds Canadian.

Speaking of Mannelly, he was on the radio a few weeks ago and told a funny story about their game vs Detroit in 2001. Apparently on the play before Jason Hanson attempted the game-tying field goal that he ultimately missed, Bears DB Than Merrill was standing on the sideline and emptied the entire contents of his water bottle all over the ball as it rolled to his feet. Mannelly claimed this water-doused ball contributed to either a bad snap or hold that cost Detroit the game. Laughing
