A buddy of mine and I were having a discussion about what the Lions need to do to become a successful organization and I argued that we need to get rid of Suh.

Not only do I not believe he is the best personality in the locker room but with cap concerns and another quality young DT I think he is expendable.

So the hypothetical I pose you is:

Would you trade Suh for Sammy Watkins straight up?

I'm not sure how other organizations value Suh and if this question is out of the realm of the universe indulge me.

But if the opportunity arose and a team called and said "Were about to take Watkins, give us Suh and he's all yours" do you accept?

Heck no. It would take multiple firsts. This Sammy Watkins love is getting insane.

If another team wanted me to trade Suh for Watkins straight up I'd laugh in their face, buy a plane ticket to where they're at, fly there, and spit in their GM's face.

I have said this before;

I am not privy to the information the Lions' FO is. But if they were to find they just can't afford Suh or he just won't re-sign here, then I would consider us fortunate to come away with an elite prospect(one of two in this draft IMO) for him.

Mild understatement. Suh is a once every couple decades type talent.

Sammy Watkins is not even the clear best WR in his draft class. I would take Evans over him

Even if you were setting yourself up to get nothing more than a 3rd comp pick for him? I guess that GM would get the last laugh and spit at the Lions then, wouldn't he?

Hmm, kind of surprising that it is believed to be the silly.

I just think we'd get Watkins + whoever else afforded with the availed cap space would make our team a whole heck of a lot better. You can add a couple additional quality player along with Watkins to a team that has a decent number of deficiencies

Clowney plus Mack and Watkins I would consider it

Certainly your prerogative, but Evans is not even in the same stratosphere as Watkins. And I consider myself a fan of Evans.

Sammy isnt even the best fit in NFL at WR on his own team.

Suh is worth the money he'll likely ask for. If he's not extended that's on Mayhew and Lewand. If I were a GM, I wouldn't be in the business for trading proven elite players at the most important position outside of QB for a player that, even if he completely maxed out his potential, wouldn't be of the same talent level as Suh.

If I'm trading Suh, I am asking for at least 2 1st round picks. Maybe more.

You just can't make it that b&w idog. Suh could ask for 40mill per or just flat refuse to sign. You don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Other teams could refuse to give solid value because Suh has unreasonable demands. You don't know and you can't be so quick to place blame. This is not Madden and there are far more considerations IRL than " he is worth what he gets"

I love Sammy Watkins, but no way in hell would I do that trade and if a GM proposed that to me I would be offended.

Wouldn't even consider trading Suh for Sammy Watkins. This defense is average at best with Suh, without him they would be atrocious. I don't know how many times I have to keep saying this but... Wide Receiver is not that important of a position, you can get by with less than what we already have in Calvin and Tate. Tate was the #1 WR on the Super Bowl Champions and he's now our #2 WR. Suh is a Top 10 defensive player in the NFL, he's worth alot more than Sammy Watkins.

No. Just no. Our defence would go from below-average to total, unadulterated crap without Suh. It'd be CJ-esque in impact on defence if Suh was ever injured. The improvement of our offence with Watkins would never come close to bridging the gap. Anyways, I have a feeling Suh will eventually resign.
