I read that the Bucs traded Mike Williams to the Bills for a 6th round pick. Could they be targeting Mike Evans so that their starting g WRs look like Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall? I think this increases the likelihood of the Lions trading back or selecting a defensive player if they stay at 10 in the first round. Thoughts?

That would be fine with me. WR is a need but a first round WR is not with the signing of Tate. If both are gone, it just means more defensive or O line prospects to fall to us.

I have a hunch that Detroit will trade up with either Atlanta or Oakland this year to guarantee they end up with Watkins or Evans.

I am hoping for a trade-back scenario that nets us an extra 2d round pick. This years draft is deep enough for us to get a really good player in the second round. I would love it f the Lions traded back and selected Odell Beckham in the first round. If they take a WR the second round I would prefer Jordan Matthews, Donte Moncrief or Martivis Bryant.

Wouldnt mind spending a 2nd and 4th round picks on a couple guys like Moncreif and Josh Huff. So long as we go defense with the 1 and 3.

1. Barr
2. Moncreif
3. Joyner
4. Huff

I would be a happy Lions fan.

So missing out on one of the top two receivers won't be all bad

I would rather Moncreif than any other receiver.

Hope so. WR shouldn't Even be on their radar first couple rounds

Tate and Calvin. Pure and simple far bigger issues

I disagree, because again that is all we have, and depth is key. We have starters at every position, and the draft should be about BPA, not filling holes.

I dont think TB trading Williams is any indication of what they may or may not do with their pick. Williams is an overpaid lazy WR and they needed to move him.

As for what we're likely to do, who knows. I think it depends more on how many QB's are taken ahead of us.

They need a starter at CB and OLB. They could use a starter DE as well.

Anyone that is content with the #2 CB situation and prefers a #3 WR to a starting CB is really reaching

oh yeah, I forgot you draft by need, don't care about talent and pigeonhole positions to rounds. Carry on.

Needless to say, I don't think Calvin or Tate have magic wands that dematerialized the talent of all WRs in this draft worthy of early round consideration. I know you do.

I draft on talent/need

WR is so deep in this class and CB is shallow. After the top 2 CBs the pool is horrid. You can still land first round talent at WR after the top 4-5. Fact that there is not really much of a difference in the top 3 WR at all shows that.

You don't change your 1st round pick based off of what might be there in the 2nd round. If a WR is better than every CB in the first, you take him without hesitation.
