Mike Triplett @MikeTriplett
#Saints have agreed to 2-year deal with CB Champ Bailey, per source.

Sorry..I suck at embedding text.

I think that it is a very good signing for the Saints (assuming Champ is healthy). The Saints will ask him to press at the line of scrimmage and he will be protected by Byrd and Vaccaro overtop. Would be a great locker room guy to help the other young CBs.

Really glad Champ signed with a contender.

Will be rooting for the Saints this year. If the Broncos don't win it....hope they do.

So what happens if they decide Graham gets the WR tag and they can't agree on a long term deal? Do they have space to afford that tag?

Bet it's close to the minimum. Not many teams looking for a 36 year old CB.

Was by far the longest tenured member of the Broncos last year. He's cooked though IMO. Cannot play at a high level anymore.

Gonna miss you Champ, sorry you never got that ring in Denver.

Champ's done imo. I wouldn't be surprised if he cut before the season starts

LOL Wow. I'd say he is more important to that team than ANY WR they have.

I think a lot of teams would like to see him gtfo of NO. In my opinion, the dude is worth the cash.

exactly!!! Look at NE without Gronk. Those 2 matter more than any normal TE.

Laughing No joke. I'd love for Graham to leave the NFCS.

I'd pay the man like a WR yesterday. Na'wlins got themselves into cap hell and now it may cost them their best weapon (and one of the best weapons in the game today).

Well, yea,, but that's kind of damning with faint praise. Brees makes Graham (and every other receiver we have) in a lot of ways. As Brees declines, our offense declines. I can see the benefit of having a good target for our future QB to throw to as he develops, but it looks like we're heading in the direction of a defensive team for the next couple of years. Graham is a cushion, but, once he loses his athletic ability (jump balls, really), then he becomes useless. He's already 27 and will be 28 by early next season. Brees has 2 years to win one before he's a shell IMO. So...just tag him this year, and maybe next (if we don't win it this year, and still feel we have a shot). After that...let him get paid somewhere else.

Graham is not a particularly good route runner, and is weak in traffic. He's overrated, IMO. Gronk is way better than Jimmy Graham. As a WR, I would say he's toward the bottom half of the top 10 (and this is his peak), but not really dynamic enough to make teams game plan just for him. He can't just take over a game...he's not mentally strong enough. Hell, he was completely negated by the Bears, Patriots, Seahawks, Rams, etc. He virtually did nothing against those teams. Guy's value is about 7 million a season, in my opinion.

Another thought: Payton is an offensive genius. Saints give him a good defense, and he will be able to put an offense on the field that compliments them. I have complete faith in that. So, let him draft a WR, a QB, and groom the offense the way he sees fit. He's good at evaluating offensive talent (few exceptions, obviously). If we lose Graham, we'll find someone else.
