Dark horse is a Marshall extension.

It would be weird to me to take from Cutler Bank for a Marshall extension since an extension for him probably reduces his 2014 cap anyway, unless they structure it like Jay's deal.

Logic would dictate that a move like this could be to extend a guy on his rookie deal too, but of the eligible rookie contract guys who is worth an extension?

If it's Allen or a few guys like Ihedigbo I'd prefer Allen. He makes is better at DE and DT (with Houston probably spending more time inside) and truly opens up anything for us in the draft.

Question for any one that may know, is the restructuring of Cutlers contract a one time thing or can the Bears do it again if they wanted to?

There will be a round of cuts after the draft and training camps start. Ouality players get released all the time then so this would give us flexibility after the short run.

Wilfork scoffed at taking a pay cut in NE and would probably command as much if not more on the open market. I doubt highly that we would target him. As for Tommie Harris, he was a perfect 3T for Lovie's system and was an excellent player before some pretty devastating injuries. Wilfork wasn't a scheme fit for Lovie at all.

This is definetely interesting... Phil didn't just dip into Jays contract for no reason. Something's in the works for sure and aid expect we hear something within the next 48 hours. My guess is either Jared Allen or a trade of some sort... I've said all offseason Chris Long to Chicago is a dark horse trade, I'm still sticking to it.

St Louis would have 17 million in dead money if they traded Long. That seems like quite a hit.

I'm an offseason too early.. Lol. I thought this year was $3m, turns out that's 2015. Guess that'll make me look even better when I call it over a year before Wink

I just really see them going Clowney or Mack at #2, and with Robert Quinn's contract lurking, there just doesnt seem like anywhere for Long to fit in.

I really want to see a trade. There has got to be a reason for this extra cash.

Thats the thing, I would have no idea. But I trust Emry in the trade department.

This is certainly a pipe dream and would roughly take the rest of our $$, but signing him is feasible and makes a whole lot of sense IMO>>>>He is due 7.5 in salary plus a 4million roster bonus. Their signing Revis and making him their highest paid guy on D, and then asking VW to restructure; is the beef. So give VW a nice 3/4 year deal; validate him, pay him what the Pats can't! Then hope our safety/corner is there at #14 and if not draft an edge rusher like Kony Ealy (6'4 273 &long) to develop but who can also contribute this season; and pray we find a starting DB in the second or third!

Everybody knows that Harris was the perfect 3T for a Lovie System and I was partying just as hard as you and every other Bears Fan that night/week ha ha!!good times>> but Tommie started falling off before those devastating injuries. He had some things going on in his head that took him away from football. Furthermore, there is no doubt in my mind that we would have drafted Wilfork had Tommie not slid so far, ideal Lovie System fit notwithstanding.

These days, VW would colossally improve our D especially against the Run. Maybe even more so than any other player in football>>><<<he is available.
