J.D. Martinez - OF - Tigers

Tigers signed OF J.D. Martinez to a minor league contract.

Martinez was released by the Astros over the weekend after batting just .250/.272/.378 in 2013 and then struggling to an even uglier degree this spring in the Cactus League. Once a major league regular, he'll now serve as organizational outfield depth for Detroit.

Tigers add Outfield depth!

Wish teams would make some decisions on guys already. Marisnick is simply on cruise control hitting a sweet .442 and outplaying Ozuna by a mile. Hope he sticks.

I wish Profar was out for the year. I think Odor would have been up in that case. Something holding back Odor was whats the point of bringing him up for three months and sending him back down.

I'm ready for this season to start. Looks like Olt will be 1B/3B eligible for me. If Franklin can get traded and Baez comes up after super two status, I think I have a really strong team.

Odor is available for anything before I drop him. Just thought I would give it a shot. Let me know.

So the Tigers just trade a quality utility man for an aging not very good SS? That Fister trade looks worse every day.

and number 97 in the top 100. Tops out at a #3 or #4 guy.

Rather poor trade on our part but I want to see what Fister does this year.

Hmm. I'm not sure if you are being serious.

I don't mind moving players around (Fielder, Fister) but I think someone like DD could have made smarter moves as far as Fister goes.

I'm not sure where I stand on Scherzer but I think he could bring in a great haul. If moved, I would want more than what we got in return for Fister.

I'm serious. He's not worth 8 year deal he wants

I'm serious as well. Depending on the move DD makes, moving Scherzer could work out well for us. Would have been better to keep Fister and move Max but Scherzer doesn't look like a long term solution for the Tigers.

I would've preferred they keep Fister as well. Affordable and consistent.

Moving Scherzer could land a great haul.

The problem is when to pull the trigger and how do you replace him in the rotation while chasing a title?
