Don't get the wrong idea, I think he has done a fantastic job so far. I still feel bad about the way the Ray Horton thing played out, and that's on him. But in terms of offseason acquisitions, he has done a fabulous job.

Obviously it's too early to grade his draft class so far. We has two players go down with season ending injuries before we even saw them play really in Cooper and Okeafor and Our second round pick has yet to record an NFLstatistic. But I think it's safe to say that the first Ariens/Kiem draft class looks more promising than the first Whisenhunt/Graves draft class.

So is everyone convinced that his down year in 2013 was purely due to his hip being bad?

Even if it turns out he's just aging or not the same player anymore, it's a cheap one year deal. Can't really be upset no matter how this one turns out.

Pretty much, most of us agree that there is only two alternatives here.

A. He revives his career, and plays like a top 5-10 CB like he did in 2012. In which case we got a huge bargain

B. we get the 2013 Cromartie, in which case we overpaid a bit, but it's only for a year.

The reward outweighs the risk without question

I think it's pretty well accepted that Cromartie was playing hurt/through injuries and that is what hindered his play in 2013. Everything I have heard is that he is now 100% healthy. If both those are true I would expect to see the 2012 Cromartie in 2014.

I think a 2013 down year for AC is going to be better than the ceiling of Powers even from a value standpoint when you factor in what the Cards will pay AC on this one year deal vs what they are paying Powers.

AC will be better than any cornerback on this roster not named PP21 this year and last year. I am hopeful that Justin Bethel will turn his outstanding athletic ability into some legit CB skills and also be an impact player on defense.
