Long snapper out of Central Florida, who spent parts of 2012 and 2013 with the Dallas Cowboys. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed (420k, no signing bonus, I'd assume).

Your move Denver.

Revis AND Hughlett?

Wow. BB is going all out before Brady's window closes. Hope this doesn't put them in cap trouble.

Competition for Aiken I see.

BB didn't like that atrocious snap vs. Indy I presume.

It's not often that the Pats sign a guy I've never heard of. I felt better once I read that it was a long snapper.

Either him or Aiken will be cut in camp.

I'm still blown away that long snappers can't get every single snap on target. That's all they practice

If practice made perfect, Brady would never miss a pass, Gostkowski would never miss a kick and Allen would never shank a punt.

Long snapping is a specialized and difficult skill.

Albeit with a lower degree of difficulty than the average pass, punt, or kick. Valid point though.

All of those things have about a million factors determining the outcome. With the exception of weather, it's simply the snapper and the ball. If that is their specialized skill, I would expect them to get it right pretty much every single time

Which is why long snappers miss like 1% of the time. What do you expect?

They all do get it right 'pretty much every single time'. Guys who blow snaps more than once or twice a year are usually out of the league quickly.

Every starting (i.e. not a mid season emergency replacement) operates around 99% effectiveness (or is unemployed quickly). Factoring in weather and human nature (nerves, slip in concentrating due to the defense, bad grip on the ball etc) it's never going to be perfect.
