A lot of conversation has inspired this thread. If we were to draft one of these guys who would you rather have in the middle of our D.

I picked Mosley because i think he is the best 3 down MLB in the group.

Thanks for elaborating Germ I also agree. He has the experience in the middle also that some of the other projected players do not. I do not see the athleticism from Smallwood Borland or Skov to cover consistently and the others were a outside guys in college

I think Shazier could be better than Glen Cadrez.

Of those, Mosley. I think he will be a solid, reliable player in the middle.

I don't mind CJ, but I don't think he will be healthy enough to play 3 down for 16 games.

"What's the best indicator for future performance? past performance." Mike Mayock.

Shazier performed better, 3 leagues above of CJ in terms of physical gifts, much higher ceiling, and he doesn't have a list of injuries. kthxbai

He does, however, have one glaring question, that being whether he can handle MLB duties.

I haven't seen much of him but Jordan Zumwalt intrigues me as a late round solution.

Thoughts?

Well... Depending on who's there at #31, I would rather wait till the 2nd or 3rd round for a guy like Borland or Smallwood. Being able to partner Smallwood in the 3rd with someone like Timmy Jernigan in the 1st and Marcus Roberson in the 2nd, I would rather that.

I would probably prefer this

Kyle Fuller
Christian Jones
Trai Turner
And a WR in the 4th not sure who

I just think that this MLB class is much deeper than people are talking about.

From a coverage standpoint not so much IMO from a run stopping angle yes

Lets draft a Joe Mays 2.0 who can't cover anyone on passing downs Rolling Eyes

out of context too?

That is a question we'll have to wait and see. I do however believe he can and will do a great job in the middle. I won't be upset if we draft CJ though.

Borland on the other hand is a no no, could you imagine him covering an athletic TE? Laughing

You can teach a LB how to play the run, you can't teach him how to cover properly.

Think about it, Shazier is the PERFECT middle linebacker for the Denver Broncos. Even if he isn't ready to be that run stuffer in year 1, we can go find another Keith Brooking or Paris Lenon, those guys are a dime a dozen, but he will be a fantastic cover linebacker on third down. I believe he is a day one three down man though, given that Kuechly was a top 10 pick we may need to trade a lot to get Shazier.
