Redskinsí contracts this offseason total $127.9 million

http://realredskins.com/2014/03/26/redskins-contracts-this-offseason-total-127-9-million/

Quote:
There has been a lot of talk about the Redskins being thrifty when it comes to free agency this year. And while they havenít gone out and made any huge splashes, they have spent some money.

The largest contract in terms of total dollars went to defensive lineman Jason Hatcher. His four-year deal is worth a total of $27.5 million. In all, the Redskins have given out contracts totaling $127.9 million this offseason. They have re-signed six of their own players for a total of $52.4 million and have brought in eight players from other teams for $75.5 million. In the 15 contracts they have give out the Redskins have guaranteed $53.9 million.
Laughing @ Redskins fans, great opening paragraph

http://realredskins.com/2014/03/16/redskins-cap-space-dwindling-but-still-enough-to-maneuver/

Quote:
But we can make an estimate based on his reported terms. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Porter signed for 2 years and $6 million. As a rule of thumb, the first-year cap hit runs about half of what the average annual value of the deal is. And due to the Rule of 51, a player making about $500,000 gets knocked out of the salary cap total when Porterís cap hit is added in. It all adds up to a net reduction of about $1 million in available cap space.

So that leaves the Redskins with about $8.2 million in cap space. It could be a little more or less but whatís a few hundred thousand dollars among friends.

After the Redskins most recent signings at the end of last week Rich Tandler is reporting that our salary cap room is around $8.2 million.

So, we still have plenty of room to add a veteran FS to our safety group of we want to.

I'd love to get Carlos, Rogers, DRC or Cromartie. That'd make Amerson's move to FS make that much more sense.

I thought Clemmons signed with Jacksonville... I could be wrong through Confused

It wasn't announced. It was a hunch by a blogger because on NFL.com they had Amerson listed as a safety and not cornerback, but even he admitted in his article it could have just been a typo.

$14 million guaranteed

Thankfully, he's a lousy tackler. Morris, GarÁon after the catch, and a healthy RG3 are going to run all over his side of the field. Laughing
