Ponder is going to win the starting job

why do you feel that's the most likely scenario?

He's the most talented of the group and he played well last season.

Ponder played well last season. Shocked

I'll say this about Ponder. Some of his best games were when Musgrave abandoned the 2 TE / TE & FB looks and ran more 3 WR sets.

I honestly like Ponder over Cassel. We could of won a lot of games last year with Ponder if our defense didn't blow. But I'm never going to forget that play where Greg Jennings is just waving like he's on fire and Ponder doesn't even look at him.

I really like Ponder and was pulling for him, but Cassell won some games for us. He outperformed Ponder.

Ponder is 3rd on the depth chart.

Christian Ponder has dropped 2% body fat, gained 5 lbs of muscle. Will share 1st team snaps in Vikes OTAs, along with Bridgewater/Cassel.

Driving up that trade value!

Did Ponder really need more muscle though? He isn't tall and looks pretty small on the field but he was always built. More muscle isn't always good for a QB.

Ponder: ďI expected Matt to come back, and thatís good for this team and even good for me. Competition is great for anybody, plus me and Matt have such a good relationships already. I really worked hard this offseason, more than I have in the past. I knew there was going to be a competition to play and I tried to do my best to prepare.Ē

ďThe expectation is that Matt's going to be a starter, but for me, Iím competing for the job, and thatís whatís going on in my mind is the competition. I think about how we talked about it before, that this is a clean slate for all of us. I donít think the coaches have made a decision on whatís going on yet, but hopefully the best guy gets to play.Ē

Ponder also said he was sure the Vikings were going to draft a quarterback, because he and Cassel were the only two on the roster before the selection of Teddy Bridgewater with the 32nd pick in the draft.

Somewhat ironically, if Ponder does win the job, it sets up the 2005 Drew Brees scenario here. It's ironic to me, because I believe that for Ponder to be successful, he has to be utilized almost exactly like Brees is.

^^^If Ponder does indeed figure it out that can only be a good thing right? His trade value would increase.

The problem is that I don't see anyone trading for a QB mid-season. It's not going to help the Vikings, outside of possibly getting a higher compensatory pick in 2015 or 16 if he plays well, which leads to a bigger contract elsewhere.

True. Maybe an injury occurs somewhere to spark a trade.

Ben Goessling ‏@GoesslingESPN 14m
Matt Cassel got most of the first-team reps today; Christian Ponder looked shaky. Threw one pick, should've had a screen picked by Wootton.

Brian Murphy ‏@murphPPress 15m
Unofficial, 11-on-11 passing stats: Cassel 16/19, 1 INT; 1 deflection.
Ponder 10/18, 1 INT, another dropped by DT Wooten, 1 deflection

Chris Tomasson ‏@christomasson 20m
Christian Ponder looked shaky today. Threw an interception, had another that should have been interception and had a bad throw batted down.

Tom Pelissero ‏@TomPelissero 34m
Cassel took all the first-team reps today. Ponder looked like Ponder. As you were.

Haha it's extremely early but Ponder still looking like the same old Ponder. Anything about Teddy B?

From what I read it didn't seem like he practiced, at least with the 1st team
