I am hoping this contract is based on performance. I hope am wrong but i would have kept Patterson instead or sign Verner.

when you look at it like that, we are paying this guy the same as patterson had on his deal. We know dmitri could still play when healthy. We dont know if Finnegan can

Finnegan acted as his own agent. Initial terms sound like he has a career after football as an agent, but hopefully Hickey put some solid provisions in the small print that favor the fins. Based on last years performance, Finnegan got himself an absurdly great deal, but the devil is in the details.

I would feel much better if Finnegan plays in the nickel rather than opposite Grimes in a base defense.

This. People keep saying he's solid and we should resign him. I don't understand that.

I've heard from Rams fans that he was great in 2012. He dropped off in the second half of 2013, probably because of injuries. Nonetheless, we don't need him to be a number one corner so as long as he is adequate then I'm satisfied.

Best thing I have heard is he is a film warrior. Could be good for the young CBs

People talk about Man and Zone as if we don't play it. We play it plenty. We just don't play Bump and run or press man often. We play man off or zone usually.

To me, what made him back in the day was his intangibles. Not everyone has the physical ability to dominate. Yet some players, Rodman with the bulls comes to mind, are so good at getting under others skin. That was always an important part of his game. If he can pass that on to our young CB's he will add a dimension they might not be able to learn from a coach.

You have to love late round picks that pan out.....plus he is a Florida product. Seems more like an Ireland than a Hickey pick so I'm hoping we have some solid info to justify the price tag.
