Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo 6m
Confirmed C Will Montgomery has been released by #Redskins, as @SkyKerstein reported.

Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo 4m
Montgomery had a cap hit of $3.42M. Cutting him saves $1.92M. His dead cap hit is $1.5. #Redskins

#Redskins plan to move Lichtensteiger to C. Had hoped to last year, but LeRibeus came in out of shape.

Good ol Ribeye helping to hold us back last season. Not going to be surprised if he is cut when all is said and done.

Any word on if Lichtensteiger will be able to come in to camp at over 300lbs? Because a 275lb center sounds like a disaster.

I swear they looked up our FFMD strategy and are copying it.

With a few notable exceptions this is the case.

Maybe its me.

I DID say I passed by Redskins Park on the way home everyday. Perhaps I'm stopping in and giving them some pointers?? Wink

Denver drafted him to play Center. He also was a Center in college and was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy (best Center in the country) his senior year.

He so light though.. Can't see him blocking 330 LB nose tackles .!

I'm sure we'll feed him a few cheeseburgers.

Not a surprise. I still wouldn't mid seeing him being brought back sometime in training camp if we're worried about our depth.

He could be had on a vet minimum deal on the cheap if we needed him in a pinch.

But, obviously he wasn't going to be starting and he was really making too much money to be a back up

I'll gladly lend Lichtensteiger 20 or so of my pounds! Laughing As for Monty, I always liked him. I hope he finds success elsewhere, as long as it's outside the NFC East.

While he would be giving up some weight, Technique is the most important thing, with out that it doesn't matter how big you are. He plays with proper technique he will do his job more often then not, and if he's going against a 330 pound nose tackle, hes probably not doing it alone anyway.

Kory will get help with chipping from the IOL. OC's always get chips from the G's to get those big guys off balance.

Just have Lich hang out with Leribeus for awhile, he'll gain a ton.

That's my point. They run that ZBS stuff and have PeyPey to compensate for gaps in pass blocking.

Don't buy it. Oh, he's an improvement over Montgomery, and probably the only place he could play is Center, but I'm skeptical.
