4.) Hatcher had 11 sacks last season. That's more than our entire DL from 2012 and 2013 - COMBINED. I doubt his play is going to drop off that dramatically in the next two years.

5.) It removes a headache from us for 2 games out of the year. The Redskins offensive coaches said that he was one divisional player that caused them the most headaches

4) that's bloody hysterical.

5) YES. These things cost money. Dallas front 7 is now decimated (thanks Elway). Ours is now NFL Caliber. That's gotta be a bit of an overstatement. Ware used to kill us.

With the expected cap rise, his dead cap will have less of an impact.

It's a well structured contract for what we could of done imo.

The past two years he was a difference maker. And PFF and other outlets haven't hammered out a value chart like they have in baseball, but they are trying too.

Last year Jason Hatcher in the 4-3 was valued at 7.7, and his year before in the 3-4 was better according to them, so I assume that would raise.

So he could take a step back in production and still be around what he is getting paid. And like footy I believe said in the NFL News post, he doesn't have to be as good, just a solid improvement over what we had.

I love this signing. Hope his age does not become a factor too soon.

Are we possibly switching away from a 2-gap, eat-the-blockers type 3-4? Think

I hope so, I'd love to see our guys attack and run a 1-gap defense. That's the type of Defense Haslett ran while coaching Pittsburgh in 1997.
