Apparently the Skins just signed Jason Hatcher for 27 Million over 4 years.

Seems like the kind of signing you regret in 2 or 3 years.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I hope the deal is structured in a way that we can get out of it in 2/3 without much in the way of Cap ramifications. He's a fine stopgap to help up the sacks, but I think we pulled a "same old skins" and gave him a bit too much money.

The one thing Hatcher has going for him is that he had at least 1 sack a game against both the Giants and the Eagles. He got to both teams QB's 3 times last season. That's better than anyone on our team currently.

Looks like he will be the starting DE. Which means I feel like we are not going to draft one.

I think what this signing does is ensure that the 2nd rounder is truly a BPA pick rather than reaching for a need.

Take a look at some of the other ones we did as well. It lowers pressure to get a player in a certain position just because we "need" them

I love the deal. My gut feeling was right about this hes a pass rushing machine his stats for pass rushes where best against the giants a and had 8 sacks .

He came he knowing he be a star and with a good location like d.c and to play against cal must of intrigued him.

Seems like the type of deal that is front loaded in the first two years with guarantees, and then in year 3 we can cut him without any cap hit.

I'm really thinking our second round pick is going to be a WR, ILB or OL now with an outside chance of it being a FS prospect if we don't sign anyone soon.

I just don't see DL in round 2 or 3 anymore after the re-signing of Baker, and the signings of Geathers and Hatcher

I agree. Its why I'm not too down on these signings. I think it gives us some veteran presence for 2-3 years while we let the youngsters develop. And it allows us to go any direction we want in the 2nd (including trading down for more picks)

Yea it does seem big at first glance but it comes down to guarantees. I'm pretty sure (or at least hope) they structured it so they can get out after two years.
