What's the latest with Vince? Are the Pats planning to release him or not?

If they want him on the roster, I doubt they give into his demands. I would imagine they are still talking to him behind the scenes, the fact that he hasnt spoken out or anything suggests they are working on something to his liking.

I've been wondering the same myself.

He was on vacation last week, so I'm assuming the team didn't talk to him at all then. I have no idea how long the vacations of NFL players are, but I'd guess negotiations should start again soon.

I don't think there have been any negotiations. It seems that the Pats approached Wilfork weeks ago, he said no to a restructure and that's the extent of it.

I don't see much reason for the Pats to change their stance. There's no way Wilfork is worth keeping for his current salary and extending him before he steps on the field would be quite out of character for the front office.

Now they are saying it happened a while ago. He went into the locker cleaned out his locker and ripped his name plate off.

Who knows. We might just be able to find a middle ground. 500 drumsticks and a cheese cake?

He did that out of frustration when the Patriots first approached him. Its an emotional reaction and shouldnt be taken as a sign of much of anything except that he was angry weeks ago.

Robert Kraft seemed genuinely interested in working something out with Vince. I believe it has been so quiet on this front because they have been talking and hammering something out.

Yeah it sounds like Vince is taking time off to think things over and just relax in general.

When asked about Vince requesting his release:
Bill Belichick wrote:
"You need to talk to him about any of those statements, which I think you should verify first."

Quote:
Belichick's, in particular, seems to call into question the context and/or accuracy of Wilfork's reported request to be released, or perhaps Belichick is simply focusing on the present snapshot, which has shifted from two weeks ago.

I don't know how "in the know" Zolak is, but might be a sign that things are heading in the right direction.

Patriots and DT Vince Wilfork restructured his contract. It's a new 3-year, $22.5M deal, per source. Wilfork stays a Patriot.
